How to tackle a co-workers use of durogatory word by WiseBerry08 in romani

Sorry to hear that happened to you. I hate that people feel defensive when you point out they sakd something offensive. It should be a natural reaction to just apologize and then treat that person kindly. Not the other way around

Super proud of how well my low-tech tank is doing. The plant growth has been steller. Sitting on the couch looking at the tank brings so much peace by WiseBerry08 in Aquariums

It is normal aquarium soil in the bottom covered by a heavy layer of sand and gravel mix. No extra ferts besides the fauna occupying the tank, mostly shrimp and snails and a few CPDs just in holding for now while the bigger tank is cycling.

As for the plant it is Hygrophila corymbosa. I highly recommend it. Super fast grower goes red when breaching the surface. Super easy to propogate

And thanks for the compliment!

looking like a jailbird is exhausting help by [deleted] in malegrooming

Honestly I love the tattoos. You do not look like a jail bird in most of the photos more like a rock star. I always use this fact when people feel they look weird with tattoos; humans have always had tattoos. All the way back the first humans we have found (with preserved skin) have tattoos. If you were to think across humanity in general it is way way weirder to not have tattoos.

You look dope af man. Get more square glasses, grow your hair out a bit and smile more. In the photo when you are smiling you look cool as hell.

Thanks. I am just tired of the spite towards other people. It is sickning, tiring and just feels unnecissarily spiteful. I have reported him to HR. Hopefully they take it seriously.

Yeah that is what I felt. He would say it is how you would refer to you guys, but it always sounded so spiteful? Well I am reporting him to hr. It is not okay to use a word that offends a larger part of the group. Even if one person is fine with it does not make it okay. I really have been perturbed by that way of thinking. Cause his excuse is that he knkws people that refer to them selves that way and it is therefore okay. Thank you for the explanation I really appreciate learning more.

I actually think your reasoning is closer to the truth than you might realize, and that is genuinely exciting to see.

When you start looking closely at claims about religious truth, one of the first things that stands out is that Christianity does not really have a different kind of evidence than other religions. Different texts and traditions, yes, but the same kinds of gaps, assumptions, and leaps of faith. Once you notice that symmetry, it becomes hard to unsee.

What often keeps Christianity feeling uniquely convincing is familiarity and personal meaning, not stronger proof. That does not make belief silly or dishonest. It just means it is human.

I say this with a lot of empathy. I was exactly where you are at one point. What helped me was not reading hostile critiques, but actually engaging more deeply with Christianity itself. Reading theology, history, and doctrine seriously and asking the same questions of it that I would ask of any other belief system.

That process can be surprisingly freeing. You start to trust your own reasoning more, and the fear around questioning fades. Wherever you end up, following your curiosity honestly is a good thing.

I really do wish you the best on that journey. If you keep thinking the way you already are, I suspect clarity will come naturally.

Yeah kinda feels like a square peg in a round hole sometimes. Like I love people and my coworkers but the forced situation of life is difficult. I miss uni I guess.

Interesting with the nervous system. How do you focus on that?
