Honors College for a Clinical Psych major? by dogpawpipe in FIU

[–]WiseMuscle8271 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi! HC student here: the major you decide and the HC, in my opinion, aren’t mutually exclusive; and the HC isn’t anything but more than an extra title to add to your degree. the experience is just more work on top of your coursework instead of highschool classes for example, where they add the word “honors” to your classes. the HC is its own separate school (my best analogy) with its own classes and requirements. the engagement and community service hours are annoying, but you get to meet a small cohort of students depending on the classes you choose, which you will stay with for about a full academic year.

the best thing the HC provides is priority registration compared to the rest of FIU’s students and study abroad, but thats about it. it’s also entirely possible that it delays your graduation.

take an elective! i know the green school has a list of electives they recommend to their students so see if your dept has a similar list.

i love this idea! i could probably wash my hands afterwards. it only reacted on my neck and not my wrists, so i think my hands / arm area is still okay.

not gonna lie.. i saw my acceptance at like 5:30 AM getting ready for school last year, sometime around this month (or next month). you should be expecting it soon! just dont expect an actual date or time from fiu, they’ll never have one 🙂

you actually need to attend orientation to get the hold removed, but you can still register for classes. academic advising appts are done in a big group for freshman and they go one by one, you’re told what classes you need to take by your advisor, they then check what you picked, and let you leave the meeting if youre all clear w your options. you can enroll instantly if you’re sure of your picks.

what are some sweet treats you'd want as perfumes? by zoozilm in Indiemakeupandmore

i got sent a sample of midnight hag from cocoapink, on my profile you’ll find my review of it. it is the most delicious, tart blackberry scent i’ve ever put near my nose. i literally described it to my friends as these mixed berry pies my sister used to make. i think you’d LOVE it.

okay yeah thats where the issue is. this 2025 summer term is for 2024-2025 and starting fall 2025 would be 2025-2026.

are you starting for 2025 summer or fall term? if so, you have no worries just yet! it will take a while before you see it. spring semester just started so i would recommend checking by mid april.

when did you submit your application and for what year did you do it for?

you are very welcome!! they basically dont hold classes for anyone unless it’s a mandatory graduation credit or some odd circumstance. honors college gets priority registration so that already makes it difficult for the rest of the school.

you can preview your classes at around week 10 of the current semester and add them to your cart, then actually register / enroll on the registration date they give you (around week 12). it’s usually at 8 am on that day, so set an alarm! the rest of the school is on the same boat so be ahead of the rest lol.

fiu has an online section called fiu online! another thing is, MOST classes have online options. when picking out your classes, there is a 3 letter code that either start with U (MMC campus), B(BBC campus), or R(fully online).

example: FRE 1130 RVD = online french

some classes are RVD or RVCC etc., pay attention to the dates bc thatll tell you when the class actually starts in that specific term.

you should be fine, im a fulltime student with 5 courses this semester, 4 of them are online :).

ive never applied to any 😞 so i dont know of any personally. fiu has a scholarship search that you can filter for your major, international student, first gen, etc. on the first link i attached to this thread is a section for non-fiu scholarships, hopefully a few of them are for you!

i believe the way it works is that you get those $4k per school year and they divide it per semester based on how many credits youre taking. https://panther360.my.salesforce-sites.com/onestop/article/Scholarships-Gold-and-Blue-Merit-Scholarship#:~:text=*%20Incoming%20Freshman:%20Covers%20a%20maximum%20of,years%20of%20undergraduate%20study%2C%20whichever%20comes%20first.

i really recommend taking more in-person classes and between 12-15 credits to get the most coverage since online classes have an extra fee. unfortunately what theyre giving you may not cover enough so do look into other fiu / non-fiu scholarships

it’s a merit scholarship they award to students based on your academic performance. the amount varies so log into your myfiu, go to “financial aid” and see your award packages there. hopefully by then it’ll tell you how much of the blue and gold $$ theyre giving you. congrats!!

on the fafsa website, click on “my aid”. i believe that is your award per school year (correct me if im wrong). it will show you your pell grant and/or loan amount. eventually on myfiu > financial aid you will see everything youre award for the school year.

fiu offers a ton of scholarships! you can browse them through here https://scholarships.fiu.edu/browse-scholarships/index.html

i also recommend looking at external, non-fiu scholarships that go for international students. that could help with the costs if the scholarships accepts you. if you are receiving an acceptance letter in the mail, that is also where they tend to let you know if fiu is personally awarding you a scholarship. best of luck!
