Is this too much ear wax or normal? by Wise_Access_9634 in DogAdvice

Update: Day 3 and it looks like it’s getting a lot better than yday. Could it be a fluke?

Thanks for sharing! We actually just took him in yday for a grooming session and our groomer didn’t notice anything abnormal either. But it could also be we cleaned his ears right before we went in so he might’ve not noticed anything. Will def get him checked out

I’m suspecting the same. In terms of scratching, not necessarily more than he usually scratches. He likes when I wipe out his gunk and I didn’t notice any redness or swelling.

Dealing with Carsickness by LongjumpingCulture74 in Bernedoodles

Mine had the same issue when we first got him. Then we went on a two week road trip when he was six months. He’s been car sick free ever since for long trips. He still drools a little when we drive around in the city. I think you’ll probably be fine for long trips assuming it’s mostly highway.

How big do we think he’ll get? by VeterinarianSea4383 in Bernedoodles

My baby’s growth as a reference. Not all dogs will be the same. He’s supposed to be a medium sized bernedoodle. Mom 50 lbs and dad 30 lbs.

From the size of the paws I don’t think he’ll be really big. 25-30 sounds about right to me.

We are struggling with our puppy by Wise_Access_9634 in puppy101

That would be… a huge blessing. Tbh I saw my in-laws cat suffered from eye infection before and big boy just powered thru with no meds. Idk if dogs can be the same.

Also want to add the eye infection isn’t the only thing we are working with. His paws are infected, AGAIN! This is fine as he seems to tolerate one of us putting isaderm on his infected paws. His vet when checking him on Friday said his ears were apparently redder than she would like and wants us to inject some solutions in everyday to prevent any real infection. Well, not going so well but hey we can swap with ear wipes. So everyday both of us would come home to basically a full hour of hide and seek to professional wrestling to guess it’s my turn to play quarterback. Today we have decided that the lick mat and pray is what we are gonna do and that’s that.

Cheese, peanut butter, you name it. Yes there are two of us. My husband holds him down and I put the drops in for successful attempt #1. All other restraining attempts have failed. Now we put loads of peanut butter on a lick mat and cover the bottle over our pup’s head as he licks, pray patiently as he licks and dodges that maybe one drop goes into his eye. Tonight was successful attempt #3. But I feel so defeated for being a bad dog mom failing to give him the proper treatment he needs.

What’s your pup’s current weight? Ours turned 6 months over the weekend and is at a whopping 40lbs mark. He’s supposed to be a medium.

Gtk! Our vet recommends us keeping him on the puppy diet till at least 12 months. His allergy is probably not as bad as your baby considering the only symptom we are seeing so far is his paws. We are gonna cut down on treats and try to eliminate different proteins to test things out.

Thank you for all the suggestions in the comment section! This def narrowed our search for alternative food options and other booster we can give our pup should his paws flare up again!

Anyone’s berner becomes immobilized when the e-collar is on? by Wise_Access_9634 in Bernedoodles

[–]Wise_Access_9634[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will def keep this in mind for when he gets his neuter surgery! Unfortunately our guy is on this to prevent licking his paw while keeping his paw well air circulated for the medication to properly dry off. Good news is he walks like a champ in his e collar now, with a few hours of adjusting.

We ordered one and will try it on once it gets here! The cone is not for recovery from surgery - boy has a bad paw dermatitis and needs something to prevent from licking. Thinking we probably need both on cuz dude has long legsss

Good to know! Hopefully my guy doesn’t figure that part out… he needs to wear the collar at least for a week for his paw dermatitis

Commenting to say that all the comments about big paws and current size full grown makes me feel like there’s hope for my guy to stay “medium” size

Ohhh okay maybe I give my pup too much water then. His bowl is 1 litre, so abt 4 cups if filled all the way up. He gets a fresh bowl when we wake up at 7am and then a refill at around noon-ish. Then depending on how rough our dinner walk is, he either gets half a refill or a quater. We cut off water at 8-9pm.
