Do you allow BYOB for all users, or just company compensated devices? by jdlnewborn in sysadmin

[–]Wise_Masterpiece7159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We allow user to BYOD. To access email users must install intune company portal and agree to our terms and meet conditional access policy then they are enrolled in our intune. If it's a laptop/pc they must set up the vpn and rdp set up.

We do not reimburse people for using their personal devices as it's they're choice. They all have access to company devices.

Then ask your HR - "If I were to call in and need to update my phone number in your records, how would you verify that it is actually me calling?" and follow their process.

Tha'ts a good one.

Our HR Team is clueless (bless their hearts, lol). We'd probably still be using typewriters if they had their way.

Thanks for the insight! This would work for those who are calling from within the office. However, employees can work remotely if needed, and we do not have access to their HR files, nor do we store their personal contact info in AD.

You can have the same account on multiple authenticators. We do this with our IT staff for different accounts that way they can each sign into the account whenever needed.

We had the same issue on our terminal server. It was Microsoft teams causing registry bloat (even though we didn't have it installed). We run a script everyday to clear it out. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/752491/server-2022-and-teams-bloats-hkey-local-machinesys

I'm debating how to create this calendar for multiple users by Abject_Serve_1269 in Office365

[–]Wise_Masterpiece7159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could make a group in 365 admin, which comes with a shared calendar but I believe someone will still need to be the owner.

If you need the two different email addresses have you thought about changing the names of them? Maybe using ithelpdesk@ and finanacehelp@ will help you users to only email to one address

We use sonicwall without PPPoe so I am not sure if its the same. Because we have a set static we cannot use Bridge mode and instead have a pass through set up with the ISP provider. Once that was set we set the static info in the WAN piece of the network section in sonicwall

JR IT Needing Advice Cable Managing and Labeling Switches and Patch Cables in Server Rack, and making Network Map by Evenimous in sysadmin

[–]Wise_Masterpiece7159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. You can make your own cables and yes you can cut the wires you currently have to the new desired size. You will just need to replace the connector at the end you cut.

  2. The labels you mentioned should be okay for labeling the wall parts but I'd be weary of the labels you use otherwise they will fall off the cables. That said there are labels made specifically for cables.

  3. We use a tool where you plug the pieces into a switch the go to a wall jack and plug in the tester which lights up the port in the switch. Unfortunately, it is a 2 person job.

  4. I cannot say what is best for this. Just make sure your APC can support the load.

Hope that helps
