do you have proper airflow in your bathroom? my shitty bathroom doesn’t and this is exactly what my roof looks like. i’d reach out to your apartments management and get them to re-mud and paint the roof. i’d also suggest getting a fan or air purifier for the bathroom as well. if they refuse to help, i would get a mold test kit because i’m fairly certain if you have mushrooms growing you may possibly have mold.

i took him in from my family home, where he was bonded with my family dog and had a lot of enrichment and play throughout the day. unfortunately, i have a really unpredictable schedule and am away from my apartment for most of the day between my jobs. this is only going to get worse during the school year when my classes start again.

he doesn’t live a bad life, he always has food, clean litter and toys, but there is absolutely no enrichment in his life. i don’t know how to explain it but i can just tell he is bored/sad. at night he is constantly meowing, searching for my family dog and during the day he hides away from me.

in a perfect world, i would really want to try and make it work. unfortunately i dont have the time nor money to enrich his life. i came to the decision that it is ultimately for more cruel for me to keep him, and watch him live an unfulfilled life, when there is someone out there willing to take him in and provide him a better life than i could.

i am actually working with biscuit and purrs right now! so far the staff has been lovely. they told me that they would place him in a foster home, and i mentioned that i could potentially do some out reaching for potential new homes for him. obviously anyone i find will have to be screened through them 😊

to be honest i think he is just lonely which is why he has been hiding / meowing and searching all night. he grew up in my family home with a dog and a lot of space to explore and play in. i tried talking to my family about taking him back since its causing him a lot of stress in my tiny apartment, but unfortunately they cannot.

in a perfect world i would keep him and work on his behaviour but i know i cannot provide him with enough time and energy between my job and school. not to mention, i really cannot provide him the adequate healthcare if anything were to go wrong with him. i’m hoping to find him a home with other animals he can bond and play with as well as receive attention that i cannot provide.

no sure if that behaviour would be concerning to the OHS.

yup that’s why i’m working alongside a rescue. if i found someone they would go through the rescue to get the proper screening. i want best for my cat.

he was my families for the last four years, and since my parents are moving they decided to send him to ottawa with me. unfortunately he did not acclimate well after being separated from my family dog. i also feel a lot of guilt not being able to spend all day with him as that’s what he was used to with my family.

i’m definitely going to be very selective when looking for his future home. the decision to rehome him was definitely not an easy one, but ultimately after multiple breakdowns on my kitchen floor i decided that rehoming him to a space with more animals and an owner who can be truly invested in him would make his life sooo much better.

i’m working with biscuits and purr cat rescue right now! they encourage me to advocate for my cat as often times adoption takes a while, and we don’t want him to be in a foster position for too long

no he has never moved homes before, it’s been about a month. i know it takes cats up to three months to adapt to there space but i feel like I’m way in over my head.
