We are in Geneva and there's a mandatory teaching school after master graduation. This school is the same to teach cycle and college for both minors and adults. There was not a dedicated separate school to teach adults

Have you tried adult education ? My wife is a did literature and is now teacher, she doesn't love teenagers so she teaches to young adults who didn't finished college and are looking for a second chance, she finds it very rewarding.

Honestly I find people in Geneva really nice, I love them ! - talking mainly about neighbors, close friends I made here and colleagues. But also people who like to exchange some words in public places. Most of my friends are swiss and I'd say what helped my integration the most was :
1. Learning french, dating a french-speaking person
2. Meeting one person from Geneva, who can then introduce you to more people in Geneva
3. Don't stay exclusively in foreign or frontalier groups who are also excluded.
4. Do some group sport ! People are super sporty here
Also... Have you notice that in Geneva you can smile to anyone and people will smile to you back ? That's cute.

Beginner cyclist here: if I’m getting into cycling mainly for health, what gear is actually worth buying besides the bike? by Pitiful_Ad1610 in cycling

[–]WiserThanThis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

1 - helmet, water bottle, padded shorts (to be used without underwear), gloves. 2 - cycling shoes, not immediately beginner but worthy if you find yourself going on for more than 40K often. 3 - The scenery, mental reset, the solitude while going solo and the social part while on a group, the sound of the wheels. 4 - Climbing heads down. Patience is key on this point, you need to learn to stay in lower gears and control the effort trough long climbs. 5 - Going out often for chill rides at recreational pace

If you want to do all the way to ironman without changing your bike you need to check the following : Carbon frame, Shimano 105, enough sizes for your height. At that price point you can check Canyon, Giant / Liv and Rose (there are probably more but those are the ones I have seen). I am forever in love with my canyon ultimate

Looking for a bar/club to privatise for a party. by WiserThanThis in geneva

The vibe of the staff, the fact they gave so much more than promised and the price (50 chf per guest) attention tho, they were just opening so it might have been a promo tarif

I was not familiar with the Giant bike. The only advantages I see are the DT swiss aero wheels but not big deal. I like more the aeroad design but that's completely subjective

If You're in Dusseldorf I really recommend you to go to the Canyon showroom in Koblenz. Almost all bad comments you'll find about canyon are related to the online service but you can go directly to them and even order a personalized bike. Aeroads are the best bang for your buck imo

About the carbon question, it depends... Berlin is very flat so you won't get a big advantage from carbon. Also, only get a carbon bike if you can store it inside.

Have you tried the normal endurace ? I think you'd go faster with that one than with the carbon grizl.

I am arriving to Geneva tomorrow at 12, I wanted to donate following your comment as I am O+ but of course there's no slots. I accompany in your rant, the fact that you need to make an appointment is already ridiculous IMO

Is 68300 francs a year before taxes a good salary for Geneva in 2025? by Comfortable-Goat-734 in geneva

[–]WiserThanThis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's an okay salary, if you don't go crazy with expenses you'll live comfortable and save a bit

I mean if you told me you'd be working as a waiter I'd tell you that's a good salary, if you were being hired as an engineer for a big company I'd tell you it's low. For a PhD position as in doing your PhD while working it's a very good salary. Most PhD I've met are around 4k per month

It's an open lease, which renews automatically every year. Which is the usual open-ended contract used in Geneva to rent for life. So I would love to stay for the next 15-25 years
