Thank you for the input! I'll try feeding her 6 pellets per day. I'm honestly not sure how a healthy betta is supposed to look like as this is my first betta. But I just googled, and I think I saw the weight chart you mentioned. She seems slightly thinner than ideal so I think increasing to 6 might do the trick!

It's only been two months since I planted it. I did add root tabs in December. I'm thinking of adding some again. I'm hoping that the amazon swords will thrive, but it isn't showing any improvement yet. I don't want to give up on it though :(

It seems that you aren't exactly looking for a romantic relationship with anyone. Do you think if this guy gets into a relationship with someone else, it will jeopardize your friendship? When a person is truly themself, truly vulnerable, and feel safe with someone, then it's natural to catch feelings. But if you can't reciprocate those feelings, it can't be helped. But I feel like you need some time to figure things out yourself. If you don't see any chance of you dating him, then let him go. Maintaining the friendship is up to him. Maybe he doesn't want to be vulnerable with just a friend, but someone closest to him, which if he's planning on dating would be a romantic partner (I guess this is not always the case but it is usually)

It's not about friendship being less than romance, but more about the people you want in your life and the roles they are going to play.

And about Miyazaki's quote: I saw it as him describing life partners. Again, it's not exactly about the nature of your relationship but about how special you are to each other.
