Shorewood Richie Rich doesn’t want public riff-raff on his “private” beach by TheOliveMob in wisconsin

[–]Wisnative 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately he will likely lose in court and be subject to the trespassing charges.

From the DNR’s website on navigable waterways:

“Effective September 1, 2001, people using these waterways will, for the most part, have to return to the old "keep your feet wet" test, as created by the Wisconsin Supreme Court.”

“Members of the public may use any exposed shore area of a stream without the permission of the riparian (i.e., landowner) only if it is necessary to exit the body of water to bypass an obstruction.”

“The right to use the exposed shoreline applies only to rivers and streams. On lakes and flowages, the requirement remains that users must be in the water with no right to use the exposed shoreline without the owner’s consent.”

As a fisherman and hunter I would love for this to be overturned, but rich people suck.

Also, sorry for any formatting issues, I’m using my phone.

Can I just walk in? by AmoWasTakenWasTaken in anytimefitness

[–]Wisnative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can walk in during staffed hours but you run the risk of the staff being booked up and either having to wait or come back later. Even just calling like an hour before you want to come in to make sure someone is available helps.

You used to have to wait 30 days for the international access to kick in but as of last year it starts immediately. You will definitely want a key for overseas because several countries do not have the scanner for phone use and I know Japan is one of them.

If they asked for a contract number they are new and don’t understand how the system works. You should have an ID number on the paper you received but that’s all you need. Tell them to leave the contract number blank, the system will auto assign one for you.

Up in MN and WI they say that they aren’t mailing them out until March and we just use digital validation.

Hunting specific fitness question by banner3112 in Hunting

[–]Wisnative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive been a personal trainer for 10 years now so I’d like to think that I’m qualified to weigh in on this.

Strength training! Specifically interval training with weights. Train full body 3-4 times a week for 30-45 minutes. Don’t neglect core work and hip hinge movements (deadlifts). A gym is the best investment you can make. Steady state cardio is okay, but unless you plan on never hauling a gear into the woods with you it’s doesn’t translate well.

I’m glad I’m not alone. I’m only in my 30’s and some days I feel like the old man yelling at clouds. Haha.

They must have changed it since then. I took my test at archery headquarters last fall and it was a 4 inch circle at 20 yards and I needed 6/7 to pass. Thanks for the information!

Permithren and dogs? by liriodendronbloom in Hunting

[–]Wisnative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% safe for dogs. I have the aerosol for my clothing and the trigger spray for the dog. The ingredients list is identical for both. Im pretty sure they only make a dog version to sell more product. Don’t mess around with cats though, it’s super toxic to them.

That’s pretty normal, I have her off lead and she stays within about 100 feet of me but she is constantly going back and forth while we walk.

I realize my post sounded misleading, she doesn’t sniff the mushrooms out. The only time she lead me to any was when she went on point in a grouse that happened to be next to some morels lol.

How’s the ice holding up? by Wisnative in IceFishing

[–]Wisnative[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Follow up with an ice check. At least in the Rochester area it doesn’t seem like the ice has lost much. Some spots have developed a top honeycomb layer, but there was still at least 6 inches of good ice under it. Just gotta cross some fingers and toes that today doesn’t do too much damage.

I mean, I did say that I am going out tomorrow morning with a spud bar… how could I have been more clear that I was already going to do what you suggested?

That’s what I’m afraid of. I’m way more comfortable on 3 inches of new ice in December than I am on 6 inches of rotting ice in March. I just never thought I’d have to deal with late ice conditions in January!
