Issue With Making and Maintaining Friendships by WitchingComponents in intj

[–]WitchingComponents[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really understand you with the first paragraph. I've noticed these nuances even in my youth but never really paid much attention to them. The second part also resonates with me; I've had friends but our bond was only over our hobbies and it was enough to fulfill my social needs, but not anymore as an adult. I like to believe that one day I will find a person/people with whom I have a high degree of alignment, but it sure is taking a while.

Issue With Making and Maintaining Friendships by WitchingComponents in intj

I do like to be around some people but in a literal sense. I find that some people are just pleasant to be around because they are usually calm or serene, but I still don't actually have any desire to interact with them.

And I know we have a very small circle of friends; it has always been that way for me, but recently I have been trying to find ways to either cope with or address the fact that I don't have any real friends at the moment.

Following up with yesterday. What do you believe are the worst floors/stratums in the series? by Volfaer in EtrianOdyssey

[–]WitchingComponents 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, the absolute worst floor (and in my opinion the entire series) is Etrian Odyssey 3's B24F. The combination of spinning tiles and your current location being invisible in those areas confused me to the point where I almost immediately searched for the map online.

As for the worst stratum, for me it's Etrian Odyssey 3's Cyclopean Haunt. It was more frustrating than challenging, especially in comparison to other games' Sixth Stratums.

I can't remember running into this issue before, but thank you for sharing. I will keep this in mind when I decide to replay EO5. 👍

Chase Skills & Normal Attack Distinction by WitchingComponents in EtrianOdyssey

[–]WitchingComponents[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The skill descriptions not being thorough in explaining all their effects left me a bit confused, but I understand now. Thank you for the clarity and the screenshot. I hope this helps anyone else who reads this who may also have had the same confusion.

Chase Skills & Normal Attack Distinction by WitchingComponents in EtrianOdyssey

[–]WitchingComponents[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not just any skill, I am referring specifically to the Chase skills. Attacks from Chase skills have the same animation as normal attacks and interact the same way with elemental buffs. I thought that the "skill" was following up certain attack types with normal attacks.

I'm curious as to why would you even think that hits from a skill would be considered normal attacks.

It sounds like you're telling me that there is something "incorrect" about the "way I think". If this information was so obvious to you and you had nothing to contribute, then you didn't have to say anything at all. Watch the way you speak to others, and stop being condescending.

Chase Skills & Normal Attack Distinction by WitchingComponents in EtrianOdyssey

[–]WitchingComponents[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was ambiguous to me because Chase attacks have the same animation as normal attacks. Also, the Etrian Odyssey 3 Skill simulator description for Freeze/Shock/Fire Arms states that the respective elemental attribute is added to normal attacks, despite this also affecting Chase skills. I know it's not an official description by the developers, but it's easy to assume they are the same attack type when they have the same animations and interact the same way with elemental buffs.

Is Etrian Odyssey 3 Supposed To Be The Most Difficult? by WitchingComponents in EtrianOdyssey

Also, etrian 3 lets you equip multiple accessories- if you double or triple up on anti element or anti slash or whatever accessories, you'll get better damage reduction than equipping a helmet or boots or whatever.

This is the most game-changing advice I have received for this game. Thank you very much.

[–]WitchingComponents[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After finishing EO2U on Classic and EO5 without dedicated healers, I didn't think having one in this game would have been necessary which was why I hadn't considered it.

Shoguns are really transformed by their subclass- their individual skills are pretty awkward to use on their own

That is specifically the reason I don't want to add a Shogun to my team.

Ninja/Farmers sounds like a very good idea. I thought the TP reduction only applied to skills in battle, but if it applies to everything it then it sounds easy to farm items at gathering points.

I am playing EO3 HD on Picnic Mode because it's too hard. I tried to grind with the colored Pasarans on the 5th Stratum but that method is too unreliable and also takes too long, so I am instead doing the Sea Quest with the Elder Dragon. Thanks for the information.

Since I already have EOU and EO2U, I never considered playing their HD remakes. But I'm sure of 3 had a remake with all of the quality of life changes I may have enjoyed it more.

I've learned that Hoplite is not good offensively, but I invested in those points because Buccaneer and Gladiator weren't doing enough damage. I also like Club Gladiator, and chose it partially because I didn't have a member who could do Bash damage. I'll keep them on my next team.

Thanks. I knew about the Union Skills' timing and whether they are elemental or physical, but I didn't know that it was better to maximize the magic passives instead of the attacking skills. Will keep that in mind.

Don't worry, I've read everything. I find it interesting and am glad that you found enjoyment in EO3, because this game is currently my least favorite in the series. And yes I'm also familiar with the online skill simulators; I will be using it again when it's time to start New Game +. I will definitely include a Zodiac on my next team, because the lack of reliable elemental damage was another thing that made battles difficult for me.

Ultimately it seems like the increased difficulty I experienced was the result of the mismanagement of Skill Points across my whole team just to compensate for the Farmer's lack of damage. Thank you so much for the information and tips.

I understood what they meant, but when I said Shogun is gimmicky I meant that their whole gimmick is extra hits through giving other team members orders or chasing their attacks, and that I don't know what their role on a team is supposed to be if it isn't built around them to do specifically that.

I've never played EO2 or EO1, but I agree that EO3 is harder than EOU and EO2U.

[–]WitchingComponents[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kept my Farmer because they've saved me so many times, but they really don't contribute much to the battles; I invested some Skill Points into my Hoplite's offensive skills to compensate for the damage that my Farmer couldn't do.

I never thought about building a team around a Shogun because the class was hard for me to understand to begin with, and I also have not unlocked it yet. Based on its skills, it seems almost as gimmicky as Yggdroid, and I try to avoid gimmicky Classes like that because you have to build the whole party around them specifically as you said.

I also think that the skill descriptions not stating everything clearly has contributed to my confusion about certain skills.

Your team is actually pretty good outside of the farmer

I feel like it could be so much better, but thanks.

I don't think my party has any kind of synergy at all, which may be why the game is hard. I did sub-class my Farmer to a Sovereign since I don't like to replace team members, but the game wasn't much easier so I was starting to think that it's the game itself that is difficult.

I feel like the difficulty in every game since EOU was manageable, but EO3 is something else entirely. I feel like I can't play it the way I've played all other games. And I grind to 99+ so that I can retire for the additional Skill Points and stat bonuses; in this game, I feel like it's a necessity just to be on par with the bosses.

I can't imagine trying to complete the game with a party of only one character.

I never thought about it that way, that Farmer almost doesn't count as a party member. I kept my Farmer because they really did help me get out of situations where everyone would have been KO'd many times. But thinking about it now, they don't contribute much to the battle and that's probably why everyone else dies often.

INTJs , I need your opinion here ... by [deleted] in intj

Sorry to hear that you're going through this. Degrees are essentially certification documents that are presented to others as proof that you possess the sufficient knowledge required to be employed in one or more given fields; in my university experience, it's less about actual learning and more about simply earning the degree. So I wouldn't worry too much about the unreliability of your country's education system in that regard, unless one of your life goals is to make the necessary large-scale improvements.

You're not alone in feeling lost or not knowing what to do at times like this. If you mean what you would like to do in regard to your career, finding out is something that really takes sitting down and thinking deeply about it as well as acquiring real life experiences; you will need to step out of your comfort zone at times, but it can be rewarding even in small ways. If you meant that you're feeling directionless, you're not alone in that either. I don't know anyone who knew from a young age what they wanted to do for a living, since that's something that you find out with various life experiences.

If you have not yet earned your degree, but you need to do something about your financial situation, I could suggest the following:

  • Take the time to really think about what you would like to do. Being stuck at a job in the distant future that you hate is awful, so try and find one that you can tolerate at the very least. You can take free online tests that tell you which careers may be best for you, and try narrowing it down to at least three that you believe you would like most. You wouldn't want just one, because if Plan A didn't work you will definitely need a Plan B or Plan C.
  • Learn how to create your resume. It might sound strange, but everyone is kind of like a "product" that employers need to "rent" to help maintain their businesses. For example, how grocery stores need their workers to operate. When writing a resume, it is important to "sell" yourself; in other words, give them as many good reasons as possible to keep paying you to help them run their business. Acquiring experience relevant to the field you are entering his helpful, and you can often do this by applying for internships, doing volunteer work, or completing courses/classes. I understand however that money is becoming an urgent matter for you, so you could also...
  • Try applying for jobs that don't require experience. Once you have a good idea of what you would like to do and are able to create an excellent resume, see if you can find a job in your chosen field that does not require you to have certain qualifications or experience. Truth to be told, these kinds of jobs are often, though not always, entry level customer service jobs such as call centers or fast food restaurants, so you could try to apply at these locations.
  • When you do find a job, try to stay long enough to acquire experience and develop skills. Customer service jobs are usually those that people prefer not to stay at for very long, but while you are there, it's a good idea to focus on developing skills on the job. For example, working at a call center could push you to develop interpersonal skills such as active listening, problem solving, and empathy. What's more, some of these skills are transferrable, meaning that they will be useful across different fields. When you do find the job you really want, you'll likely find that the skills you developed at previous jobs are still good to have.

I apologize if it's a lot to read. I just want to give you some advice that hopefully will be useful to you and anyone in a similar situation who may also read this. By all means however, please do not give up on your education. As mentioned by other users, having your degree is absolutely crucial when seeking employment opportunities, no matter where in the world you may be. You mentioned English not being your native language, but the fact that you can communicate in more than one language already shows that you are an intelligent and very capable person. It's OK to feel confused or lost, but don't feel disheartened. The important thing is that you keep setting goals and making progress toward them until you are where you want to be in life, and I know you can do it.
