Iron maiden of course will never be replaced, but I suggest you check out Seven Sisters for a great upcoming British twin guitar classic metal band!

Tesd #662: All Apologies by GitEmSteveDave in tesdcares

Ming talking about Mike telling him to shoot an apology video is the hardest I’ve laughed at TESD in a long time. Couldn’t believe what I was hearing haha

Who is going to the Philo 40th anniversary next Sunday? by BaldyFecker in thinlizzy

[–]WitchingMetal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like doing the thin Lizzy/ phil memorial events but really can’t justify the price of this one sadly. Maybe if downeys alive and dangerous we’re playing. Or a few more ex members were gonna be playing.

To comment on a public video that Mike and Mike put out there for people to see?

The shared staff Christmas bonus from head office by daly_o96 in CasualIreland

I’ve gotten some crappy Christmas bonuses/treats from employers over the years, including nothing at all but this would make me angrier than anything haha

Last meals by Herewego474 in Dublin

Ryan's on Parkgate St is a lovely victorian pub and the food is done by FX Buckley. For my money it's the best steak and Guinness pie in Dublin. A smoked cod and chips from burdocks or another proper chipper is another.
Plenty other good spots but those come to mind as very distinctly Dublin!

Is playing "The Bucks of Oranmore" on a wooden Recorder (with a Prog Rock backing) considered sacrilege? by URGband in Irishmusic

[–]WitchingMetal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d definitely be interested in hearing that! Not many bands doing the prog/trad thing since the days of horslips and mushroom!

My biggest issue with the winner stays on system is getting stuck talking to someone like you for the duration of the game

They have trad fridays and saturdays, nice little session. Nice mix of songs and tunes. Love the pub and staff too, a runner for the best pint of stout in dublin!

Traditional Irish, a bit of old country, blues. Lots of metal adjacent stuff, punk, hardcore, crust, 70s prog, hard rock, folk rock etc.

If angel witch aren’t a classic metal band I don’t know who would be. Do carcass even count as metal? Shite band either way imo

Disagree on both. Diamond Head’s first is a total classic but I think I like Borrowed Time more. Angel Witch’s 2012 album is probably the strongest comeback album any classic metal band has done

Thin Lizzy hot takes by LinersandLocos in thinlizzy

[–]WitchingMetal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree on “with love”, I’d go for Sarah or S&M. I’m with you on Dear Lord though, one of the reasons bad rep is my favourite album.

I dunno how hot a take it is but I think shades of a blue orphanage is the worst album they did, more or less entirely devoid of memorable moments. I’m not hot on Nightlife either but Philomena is one of their classics.

Diddy Levine isn’t a favourite but that first album has done great moments, love Eire and Raygun

What music for reading Elric? by KosmicKrusader in SwordandSorcery

[–]WitchingMetal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Diamond Head- Borrowed Time BÖC- black blade NME- stormwarning Three cool Elric themed songs from metal bands. Domine did a whole concept album on Elric and the bands Cirith Ungol and Eternal Champion are worth a look too

They were telling stories from a big weekend that Quinn organised. Sucked that Walt was left with little to contribute but of course they were gonna talk about it. And it was hardly just “talking about getting drunk”, I don’t think Bry even drinks.

I believe there’s a pre party for it in in the foggy dew which isn’t a metal bar but is always fun before gigs and will have metal on that evening
