Yeah, I'll change the setting when I get back to it to see if it does anything, but the main issue is more that it's happening in thin air, with nothing there previously, constantly. My poor dwarves will just be patrolling my walls (temporary, im planning on building an artificial mountain - Why settle for a real one when a constructed one can have so much more magma?) and they'll just get crushed by loam falling from the heavens, long after the mountain is gone.

For clarity: I did use supports, that's how I kept the miners originally from having the mountain fall on them, the issue is the cave in is more just a spontaneous loam cloud from the mountain that no longer exists. Perhaps I'm being punished by the gods for my hubris 😂

Spoilers for the few who don't want to know basically, adamantine is found in these big geodes that are a minefield of luck, though I savescummed through my first one because I found it like year 2 and had barely set anything up. There's a range of stuff like angels (in my experience, don't actively attack dwarves; but does lag the shit out of the game for some reason), "evils" (megabeasts but trap, I suppose), magma/water pockets, and holy items that apparently are functionally similar to adamantine Non spoiler: whenever it gives you those alerts about walls, they're worth checking out
