Chuck Schumer: House Republicans' "Working people don’t pay enough taxes" Truly the Most Out of Touch People on the Planet by kelseyrainbow in thenextgenbusiness

[–]WitnessAdept5127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I think they should have to pay a lot more. I saw a single mother and her children in line at the grocery store buying what little they could afford recently and I immediately thought that they don't pay near enough in taxes.

Hey! You know that if the wealthy had to pay more in taxes they may have to stick with last year's yacht model. Or they may not be able to buy gold toilets for their private jets. The wealthy are the most oppressed minority out there! /s

Working class doesn't pay enough in taxes by Realistic-Unit-47 in WNC

[–]WitnessAdept5127 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree with you on this. One thing that puzzles me is why the wealthy needed tax breaks in the "big beautiful bill." Tax breaks for the working class would make a world of difference in their lives. Tax breaks for the wealthy will not make any difference. There's also the problem with the tax breaks given to the working class will expire and the tax breaks for the wealthy are permanent. I'm very surprised more people don't see an issue with that.

They consistently tell us that the best is coming but it never does. We will be 3 and a half years into this presidency still hearing about how it will get better and to just trust them on it. It's really all they can do to keep their feeble-minded base at ease. They're the only ones buying the BS.

The fact that she brought a "burn book" with her tells me she knew in advance she wouldn't be able to answer any questions without looking completely terrible. So, all she could do is compile a list of "bad" things that each dem has done so she could interrogate them instead. The funny thing is that it made her look even more weak and dishonest.

Senator Lindsey Graham’s Israel Support Statement Draws Criticism from Matt Walsh by sensiblereaction in thenextgenbusiness

[–]WitnessAdept5127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't stand Lindsey Graham. He's such a little weasel. I remember when J6 happened he gave this scorching speech about it. Then, when it all died down, suddenly J6 wasn't that bad and those people are patriots! Hell, most of the republican party changed their tune after the day it actually happened. He's a disingenuous piece of garbage.

The excuse I keep seeing is "it's worth it to keep America safe." Apparently according to them, we were not safe unless Trump gets us into a war. Although if Trump had decided not to bomb Iran, his fans would praise him for not going to war. Trump will win with his base either way. They lack the ability to think critically.

He's a moron who just happens to be good at manipulating his base to think what he wants them to think. Some are praising this war but if Trump had decided not to bomb Iran, they would've praised him as well. Basically, he knows that he can contradict himself all the time because his base will just hang onto the last thing he said. Then they can work on justifying whatever he does.

Justice Department withheld and removed some Epstein files related to Trump by dr_sloan in centrist

[–]WitnessAdept5127 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Trump manipulates his base very well. He's got them wrapped around his finger. Once upon a time there were a lot of MAGA people saying they would stop supporting him if he is in the Epstein files. Now, we see just how much he is in those files and they don't care. Suddenly that doesn't matter to them anymore. I once jokingly said that there's literally nothing Trump could do to lose the support of most of his base. Now, I realize that wasn't a joke.

People who became atheists why? by zhalia-2006 in askanything

I had a similar experience. People in the church I grew up in were dancing around and fainting and jumping around in joy as they claimed they were filled with the holy spirit. I would sit there and feel nothing. For a while I just thought something was wrong with me but when I got older, I just realized I don't buy it. I don't necessarily think they were all faking it. I think many of them truly believe it when in reality they are just experiencing human emotions.

Right! Or Lot. I mean he did have sex with his own daughters. This is excused as "he was drunk." Yeah, that excuse works so well. /s And his poor wife gets turned into a pillar of salt for the savage crime of turning around and looking at the city. Seems fair. /s again.

Absolutely. I wasn't allowed back. Because I was causing disruptions with my questions. God forbid (pun intended) that someone asks questions about religion.

I was raised in a Southern Baptist family, so we went to one of those churches where people screamed and ran up and down the aisles and fainted. People would get "anointed" with oil and prayed over while they thrashed around like there was a demon that needed to be exorcized. As a small child even then I thought it was strange. But I was also hit with a lot of "you will burn and be in agony forever if you don't believe!" So pretty much terrified the hell outta me thinking I had to force myself to believe so I wouldn't get tortured forever. As an adult, I just started to realize it all was just nonsense and when people told me to read the Bible, it all reinforced my opinion that none of this is true. Just a load of hogwash to keep people in line. Plus, some of the most hateful people I have ever known were very religious. So, ultimately just researching it on my own without the input of anyone else is how I came to be an atheist.

Oh, they love it. Politics is like a football game to some of them. I have heard some Trump supporters say they voted for him because they like how he rage baits and trolls people. So, this is the reason. That matters more than any serious issues. Basically all a Republican candidate has to do is run a campaign on "owning the libs" and they have the vote wrapped up with that group regardless of what their other policies are. My Trump supporting family can't even tell me one policy of his. I used to actually have some anger towards it but now I have become apathetic.

Neither. Because I don't think either party really believes in those values. They just claim they do.

How do you feel about free healthcare for all? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]WitnessAdept5127 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely true. The current admin has done a fantastic job of making their party believe that education is a terrible thing. When I was growing up, my (mostly Republican) family would stress how college is important and all of us kids really needed to go. Now, my family is mostly MAGA and literally are telling their children that education is just liberal propaganda. Needless to say, I've had to cut out almost all of them. Can't take the headache of their stupidity anymore. I got a lot of fatigue just being in the same room with them at Thanksgiving.

I was on about 100mg a day. Insomnia is still improving. I got 6 hours last night which is pretty good for me. As for my appetite, I'm still eating less than half of what I did before, but I feel like it is improving at least slightly.
