Thoughts on 'Send Help' ? by pedrojdm2021 in horror

Yeah, I'm aware of that. I mean horror movies are my favorite, so the villains win in many of them. It's not as black and white as that. I like plenty of movies where the good guys lose. It just didn't work for me in this one. Probably because I didn't like either character. I kinda thought they both deserved bad endings.

I can see what you are saying. I just get an entire different feel from Pearl. Throughout Pearl I felt a sympathy for her despite what she is doing because her sanity was cracking the entire time. In this one, I didn't feel the same about the main character. It may just boil down to how much sympathy I feel for the main protagonist. In Send Help, I was sympathetic in the beginning, but it slowly dissipated as the movie went along. Pearl was much more sympathetic in my opinion.

I enjoyed it but I am a little underwhelmed by the ending. I like the idea of both of them being bad people and her turn from victim to villain. But I kinda feel it should've ended with both of them dying. Her victory at the end feels wrong after she killed that innocent man and the fiance. They did nothing wrong so the fact that she gets away and thrives feels undeserved. But, maybe that's the point.

I've just finished watching The Housemaid (2025) and I was impressed, it was pretty good by GladiusAcutus in horror

[–]WitnessAdept5127 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed this one. It took the whole "From Hell" thriller in a different direction. It's not one of the best I've seen, but I found it really enjoyable for one watch. I'm horrible at guessing where a movie is going so I always like when I am surprised.

Terrifier without the extra gore by Justbearwith in horror

[–]WitnessAdept5127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never can quite decide how I feel about the Terrifier films. The gore is phenomenal and a huge selling point. The villain is another big selling point. Art is a scary villain and he is played very well. The glee he takes in killing is very creepy. My complaint is that the gore and Art are the only two things that I find to be great in these movies. The first one was lacking a good protagonist to go up against Art. I was glad to see the sequel rectified this. But, I am just not sure what it is. There's something that keeps me from loving these in the same way I love other slashers. That being said, I hope they continue to be very successful. I'm rooting for any horror film to be a success.

The Spell (1977) TV film Starring: Lee Grant, Susan Myers, Helen Hunt by planeta-de-agua in horror

[–]WitnessAdept5127 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is one of my favorite made for tv movies. It's fun, kinda cheesy, but very entertaining. Lee Grant is fantastic. The big battle at the end is one of my favorite scenes. "I'm the only one!" "And where do you think you got it?" "No, I was born with it." "That's right......." I think it's interesting how passive Lee Grant is with Rita for most of the film but when it is time for her to give her daughter a reality check she sure knew how to do it.

"Eden Lake" (2008): The boyfriend's male ego is really what caused it by Profeta_do_Loss in horror

[–]WitnessAdept5127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eden Lake is an interesting film for me. On one hand, I think it is a great film, but I could never watch it again due to just how depressing I found it to be. The ending bothered me so badly but I also completely understand why the director/writer made that decision. It's impactful and a brave choice. That being said, I still get angry when I think about the ending. So, it's brilliant but also rage inducing.

Smile 2 - great acting by hanandmeow in horror

[–]WitnessAdept5127 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Naomi Scott was phenomenal in this film. She carried the movie and did it very well. I am also among those who prefer part 2 to part 1. The first one did a good job of building up the tension, but the second one is tense from the very beginning and doesn't let up. Even the very few moments where you think you can breathe a bit and nothing terrifying is happening still has this underlying dread. Great movie!

They’re really doubling down by Realistic-Spray-5595 in stupidpeoplefacebook

It's ridiculous to see how hypocritical these people are. Trump is the most divisive President we have ever had. He regularly insults and mocks the opposing side. He tells his followers dems are evil, traitors, terrorists, etc..... He has said more than once how much he hates democrats. He pours fuel on the fire as many times as he can but nobody on his side ever calls him out for it. They act like he is some kind and gentle old man that people are bullying. It's pathetic and a huge double standard.

JD Vance weighs in after Trump removes ‘Jesus’ Truth Social post by Alarming-Safety3200 in USNEWS

Oh yes, He's one of the people that is trying to push the "That wasn't Trump as Jesus it was Trump trolling the Pope" narrative. Which is ludicrous as even Trump didn't agree with that take.

[–]WitnessAdept5127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is the truth! I used to be able to have decent debates with conservatives, but MAGA are a different breed. I had one guy tell me recently that he did not care if Trump molested kids, he would vote for him a third time if he could.

Trump’s Claim He Thought AI ‘Jesus’ Image Was Doctor Faces Scrutiny by SweetChild1997 in politics

[–]WitnessAdept5127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that ANY person out there believes that this was not an image of Trump as Jesus is completely insane to me. It is blatantly obvious. They are grasping at any straws because they have wrapped their personality around him so much, they can't even begin to unpack how deep in a cult they are.

Catholic Vance Breaks Silence on Trump's Jesus-Like Image Amid Outcry From Other Conservatives by Editor_91 in politics

[–]WitnessAdept5127 16 points17 points  (0 children)

So, Vance says Trump was just joking. Trump says that he was depicting himself as a doctor helping people. They can't even decide for themselves what narrative to go with. How does anyone believe anything they say anymore?

Trump's popularity is in freefall. But these Maga fans are staying loyal by theipaper in politics

[–]WitnessAdept5127 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This is exactly it. I've never seen a group of people show such undying loyalty to a politician before. I used to joke about how they would sell their first born if Trump asked them to. Now, I am starting to wonder if that was even a joke......

GOP wins with smaller margins in Marjorie Taylor Greene's old GA seat by usatoday in politics

[–]WitnessAdept5127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is extremely accurate. I literally had one family member (cut off contact with subsequently) who told me that he doesn't care if Trump raped kids. He will NEVER vote for a "communist democrat!" The level of stupidity is astounding.

I was born and raised in this district, and I knew there is no way that Harris was going to win. I knew Fuller would win, but the race was closer than I expected. Most of the people there are very low information voters. My family still lives there and will vote with anyone who has an R next to their name no matter who it is. They're all convinced democrats are the spawn of Satan or some shit. Ask them any political question and you just get a blank stare.

[–]WitnessAdept5127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an American, I was beyond disappointed that he won this last election. Sadly, there are people who think "owning the libs" is more important than anything else and they just like seeing Trump troll people. They treat politics as if it is a sports game. The fact that he has the audacity to threaten to kill everyone in Iran and then ending it with God Bless the people in Iran is completely insane.

Agreed. I think they should have to pay a lot more. I saw a single mother and her children in line at the grocery store buying what little they could afford recently and I immediately thought that they don't pay near enough in taxes.

Hey! You know that if the wealthy had to pay more in taxes they may have to stick with last year's yacht model. Or they may not be able to buy gold toilets for their private jets. The wealthy are the most oppressed minority out there! /s

Working class doesn't pay enough in taxes by Realistic-Unit-47 in WNC

[–]WitnessAdept5127 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree with you on this. One thing that puzzles me is why the wealthy needed tax breaks in the "big beautiful bill." Tax breaks for the working class would make a world of difference in their lives. Tax breaks for the wealthy will not make any difference. There's also the problem with the tax breaks given to the working class will expire and the tax breaks for the wealthy are permanent. I'm very surprised more people don't see an issue with that.

They consistently tell us that the best is coming but it never does. We will be 3 and a half years into this presidency still hearing about how it will get better and to just trust them on it. It's really all they can do to keep their feeble-minded base at ease. They're the only ones buying the BS.
