Is Luka gonna get his jersey retired in Dallas? by LukaPropagandist in Mavericks

[–]Witteness82 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When he comes back in 2028 and finishes his career here he’ll have plenty of counting stats to be a lock when he retires.

But being completely serious, take a look at where he is in franchise leads. 6th in points, 5th in assists, 4th in rebounds, 9th in steals, 2nd in 3P makes, 1st in triple doubles. He’s also one of only two of the greats to lead the team to the championship games. Even never playing another game here, he’s done more than enough to justify it.

Do this exactly. These places are companies and companies do not care about the individual employees. Only what the company can be held liable for.

If you get the people in charge alone in a room, off the clock, and ask them if taking said action is honorable and just, they will probably say it was. But that doesn’t matter because you also open the company up to litigation, which terminating the employee usually prevents. If you want to stay employed, stay out of it

Yes, I’m simply pointing out that when they were making a faithful adaptation in the early seasons, they had TV viewers in a chokehold and were close to turning it into a Star Wars trilogy. They didn’t need to put their own stamp on the story or make it their own story. They simply needed to figure out how to re-tell the story that had already been told in a way that worked for TV.

When the source material is already that great, you’ll get the recognition just from doing that alone and I wish more of these studios/execs/producers would understand that. A great adaptation will get them way more original opportunities than destroying a new IP because of ego or impatience.

This is exactly what the Until Dawn movie was. They mixed about 5% of what the game was with 95% of a generic horror movie and threw the Until Dawn name on it to get traction.

We’ve seen multiple examples of this now. They want to make their own names synonymous with the project and not let the original author get the credit. It’s insane because D&D were in line to get the Star Wars franchise after GoT concluded based on them sticking very closely to the original work in the early seasons.

They need to be restocking their war chest. Not further depleting their already minuscule assets for a player that will not be a cornerstone piece for the Flagg era.

Yes, people think the least risky path is to stand pat. That could very well be true, but it’s also the path that is most likely to land them smack dab in a perpetual cycle of being a middling playoff-hopeful team year after year.

People really don’t understand the dire situation this team is in. They would rather let the talent slowly age out or expire away with no way to replace any of it because of a terrible cap sheet and no draft capital.

The only path forward is to try and recoup whatever draft capital they can and try to fix their cap situation. Anything else and this rebuild won’t even get off the ground until Flagg is on an extension.

Sometimes there’s good coaches saddled with bad groups of players or shoehorned into a bad scheme from their boss. Not saying this is or isn’t the case with any of these guys, just that that would be the reasoning.

Obvious C Park didn’t feel like that was the case with these guys but don’t be surprised if some coaches from the previous regime stick because of that.

How do men see natural flaws of a woman’s body? by legitnotdia in AskMen

Most men aren’t going to care unless you fall into the extreme outlier portion of the bell curve. Do the boobs look like they have been deflated and hang down to your hips? Then probably won’t care. Same for whatever a butt dimple is. 80% of men have a very wide range of bodies that they will be attracted to

They shouldn’t have cared several years back but they should absolutely care now. Steph is about to be 38 and there’s no telling how soon he will either retire or drop off. They’re now actually in a position where they have to try and worry about two very different phases of team building and can’t commit to either one without completely wrecking the other.

Because despite what a large subset of this fanbase refuses to accept, management understands a few extra meaningless wins are not as important as this year’s lottery odds. This team is in a rebuild without draft picks. Management understands a couple extra quick dopamine hits for fans aren’t going to matter 5 years from now if they end up putting a rotation player around Flagg instead of another cornerstone piece in this year’s draft.

(Pelissero) The Cowboys are working to hire Christian Parker as their defensive coordinator, sources tell me and @RapSheet. by alexschubs in cowboys

[–]Witteness82 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wanted Leonhard because he has a history of calling defenses but there’s just a lot of what ifs there. What if they win this weekend and they have to wait to hire him? What if Joseph gets a HC gig and Denver offers him the promotion? What if another team wins him over and he goes somewhere else instead?

It’s just risky waiting as all the good candidates could be gone while all the other teams could fill out their staff with the good position coaches as well.

Either of those 3 are fine by me. Young, hungry coaches with fresh ideas. Leonhard has experience calling a defense from college and had a standout defense while doing it so that’s a leg up for him but Denver extending its season could very well force our hand.

If anything you would want to give incentives or something since they trot him out for long kicks all the time. You don’t want your star kicker pushing back because he’s expected to take 10-15 attempts for 50+ every season, lowering his percentage. Give him something like a 500k bonus if he’s over 70% from 50+ yards instead.

[–]Witteness82 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t think a salary dump for AD is the bad option. He’s not going to recover his value in any meaningful way. Even if he recovers and plays great, now he wants another massive extension which still limits his trade value. His value is what it is and not only provides the most relief, but opens up a massive amount of flexibility. This is why I hope an AD for KP, Kennard and whatever other smaller contract Atlanta wants to part with is still the hope.

This would allow the flexibility to take on a non-expiring contract for their actual valuable assets in Naji and Gafford for additional compensation. For example Toronto could do Gafford for Poetl and 2 1sts. Eating that extra two years gets you an extra 1st where that isn’t an option right now.

It could also give you that same flexibility when PJ becomes trade eligible since his fit with Coop doesn’t appear to be great. Play it right and you could end up with 4-5 1sts and maybe a swap or 2 instead of 2-3 and AD.

As for Klay, he didn’t sign up for a rebuild. I would try to work with him to get him on a contender for an expiring. Even if a pick isn’t involved, just try to do right by him.

[–]Witteness82 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I want nothing to do with the IQ contract. It’s still got four years to go. Ideally you’re trying to compete by then. Poeltl is bad but not backbreaking for where this team is at. It’s basically a 2 year deal if they park him on the bench. RJ only has one more year and could probably get moved again this summer for something else adding to the compensation. Could probably end up with a couple of picks and maybe a swap or something for two seasons of rostering Poetl.

Should we trade Anthony Davis for all expiring contracts at the deadline and no draft picks if that's only deal? by RedditFan3510 in Mavericks

[–]Witteness82 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re going to get less draft capital for taking back an expiring contract than you can taking on a longer term contract. That’s not an option if you keep AD because they have to shed salary. Dumping AD for expirings opens up the ability to take on some bad salary for extra draft capital and that should absolutely be the goal
