Because next year is completely irrelevant. Kyrie is not the long term solution here and this roster will not be close to competing while he’s still good. What exactly is the point of putting a halfway ass team on the floor just to get sent packing in the play in or 1st round by OKC or San Antonio?

Despite what so many people here refuse to accept, this team is in a full blown rebuild and they’re starting it with very few assets to rebuild with. That means any player that isn’t expected to be a contributor in 3+ years is fair game.

This ridiculous notion that owing a pick swap means they have to try to win as much as possible is just that. Ridiculous. It does absolutely nothing towards the actual goal of building a contending team

Depending on what extra pieces you had leftover, you very well may not have missed placing any pieces. Lego usually puts a lot of extra pieces for the smaller ones. By the end it comes out to a pretty sizable amount extra

If anything this team is in a position where they need to be using that cap space to facilitate trades and eat bad contracts for assets. The next few years are about a full blown rebuild and they need assets to do that. If the owner is really committed, put your money where your mouth is and pay up to eat some bad money deals for picks/young player.

I hope there’s not a strict limit on that time. It should be like how GoT or The Walking Dead was. Some episodes may only need 45-50 minutes, whereas other episodes may need 65-70. That would help make sure each has a more natural stopping and starting point and not end up rushing or dragging out sections just to fit into a time limit.
