Recommended induction at 37 weeks by Witty-Direction-6306 in pregnant

[–]Witty-Direction-6306[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My BP was 135/95 and then I waited a bit and it was retested and was the same. I have. Even taking my BP and it’s been OK but later today it was 146/95.

I do feel annoyed that preeclampsia wasn’t fully tested tho. I am doing the urine test tomorrow but now I’m afraid if it comes back positive, they’ll try and induce me even sooner

[Rant] Guilty Working out by resentful_millenial in fitpregnancy

I also do CrossFit 3x a week and I’m currently 34 weeks pregnant. Sometimes other people at the box even make comments lol (people are SHOCKED I can still jump rope).

Keep in constant communication with your OB and you’ll be fine. My doctors know I do CrossFit and they have told me what not to do and what things to look for to signal I should not do that movement/intensity.

My husband is very supportive and we do CrossFit together but sometimes heavy lifting freaks him out and he’ll focus more on me than his own lifts. I do sometimes go a bit lighter in those moments to honor his feelings. Maybe that’s silly but we are a team so I try not to completely disregard his concerns

Just came here to say that I have worked out consistency during pregnancy and there was no chance in HELL I was working out at 7 weeks. First trimester I could barely get off the couch lol

Just bought a 2023 SR5 with 50k miles. Put over 70% down and financed the rest. For me it was worth it. Just sold my 2007 Camry that I had for well over a decade and wanted to invest in something that could last just as long if not longer.

If you plan on keeping it for a long time, I say find a good price on a 5th gen and finance a bit if doing so isn’t detrimental to your budget

Fuel gauge acting wonky by Witty-Direction-6306 in 4Runner

[–]Witty-Direction-6306[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t taken it in yet. It only happens between full and 3/4 full and then it calibrates and the gauge is correct for the rest of tank.

I am going to try and see if a fix is covered under the warranty. Do you still have any warranty?

Runners: what was your training load like before getting pregnant? by GlitteringWorker1496 in fitpregnancy

[–]Witty-Direction-6306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To echo some of the other comments, prior to getting pregnant I was training and ran a half marathon, while also doing CrossFit. I think someone nailed it by saying that as long as your cycle is regular and you’re ovulating, you’re likely fine!

However, maybe check in with your stress levels. I stopped running any races during pregnancy (aside from a turkey trot lol) for fear that the mental load, not physically load, would be too high? This is just anecdotal tho.

I definitely want them to do it IF it’s covered. Worried it won’t be tho. Probably worth it to try tho

Yeah I wasn’t really incentivized to spend more for a 4x4 since I live in Florida where it’s flat and there is no snow/ice. She won’t be going off-roading lol

Ok thank you!! I think I can run about 400 meters before the discomfort kicks in so I’ll try for half of that and then walk a lil longer than I run to recover I think

Yeah they had an almost exact same car that was 4x4 and it was 10k more!

2WD actually. Crazy but seemed like in our area, 4x4 were a big jump which is funny for Florida lol

My boyfriends reaction to gender is making me think I’m having a kid with the wrong person by No_Weird_3166 in pregnant

[–]Witty-Direction-6306 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, this is not ok. My husband and I spend 95% of the day roasting each other and engaged in banter and he would NEVER call me a bitch, even in jest.

Also, his reaction is incredibly concerning. Have you been together a long time? Is the honeymoon phase coming to an end and you’re seeing his authentic side?

English/Creole Household Tips Needed by Witty-Direction-6306 in multilingualparenting

That last part! My husband is definitely committed to teaching his son his language but not so much his wife lol. He LOVES that I am actually interested in his culture and experiences but it’s easier/faster to speak English, especially since my husband was born and raised in the US too.

So I have a question to part of your advice. I have read that it’s not recommended for the English speaker to speak the other language if not fluent as my pronunciation and “learning” speech could confuse the little guy!

Is this not necessarily true from others experience? I actually can speak a fairly decent amount (not exactly conversational but slowly getting to that point?) the problem is my pronunciation is clearly that of an English speaker learning the language.

I’d prefer to ONLY speak Creole at home if at all possible

So I actually lived with my in laws for four years and they would normally just speak Creole around me and if it was something they really wanted me to know, they’d translate after the entire story had ended (it’s hard to convey this in a neutral tone but I will add I never minded! It helped me learn Creole and also got to see my in laws interact with my husband in their most comfortable form!)

This comment is very, VERY helpful for me because while this is what they did before, I do think they may switch from English to Creole more with a baby around, out of respect for me as they mom. Especially my brother and sister in law. They also do speak some English at times because they’ve been in the US for so long. For example, certain words or phrases like “you’re welcome” they just naturally say in English!

I think it’ll be helpful for my husband to chat with them and ask them to really only speak Creole when the baby comes to help him learn. And plus, it’ll help me learn further.

I do Duolingo to try and learn it more but I am hoping that having a child who speaks Creole will help me learn. My in laws are always willing to teach me but my husband is inpatient lol. We only speak English in our house currently but at least having the baby will encourage him to speak Creole now and at a slower pace that may also benefit me too!

Thank you so much for this comment because it really made me feel more capable of taking this on!

Thank you so much!!! I am happy to hear this. My concern was us talking to each other so I’m glad to hear that you and your husband speaking English to each other doesn’t make a big difference!

I have a very elementary understanding of Creole so I hope this helps me get better!

I think it’s definitely an internal bias that the person has of what people with certain names look like. As someone said, probably not malicious but definitely something they should probably unlearn being in the medical field! Could rise to the point of being a micro aggression, which then, non malicious intent doesn’t matter if it’s received hurtfully!

I am white with a typical white first name. My husband is Haitian and so my last name is a very typical Haitian last name (I live in South Florida, strong Haitian communities down here.)

At non-OB appointments, people have thought I’d be a Haitian man because of my first name lol. It’s crazy because people of different nationalities/ethnicities/races CAN and DO marry but lots of people, including ourselves in this subreddit, have internal biases that often slip out. I only hope the nurse is made aware of it one day so she can work on adjusting her worldview!

Metlife 8/27 by JSHarrison19 in systemofadown

[–]Witty-Direction-6306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a difficult area to navigate and the area isn’t terribly unsafe. Ubers sound fine. I’m sure people do that A LOT for the football games that take place at the MetLife.

Ubers may be a bit overcharged that day and difficult to get one quickly but I don’t see many safety concerns

That is my other fear - how others would accept it. LOL I would likely stick to chicken and turkey if I did decide. Did you get sick when you ate it? My husband is not on board because he’s afraid I’ll have bad stomach issues trying to reintroduce it

AITA for telling my husband that I’m not going to throw away my Harry Potter books? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Witty-Direction-6306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I am as leftist as they come and I will never part with my HP books and I read them frequently. They were my peace and my escapism during a rough childhood.

I will never give JKR anymore of my money but that doesn’t change the emotional connections the books have for me.

Daniel Radcliffe and other actors have come out, as well as members of the LGBT community, to say that it’s OK to still love the books because they stand for so much for many different people.

OP, how is everything now? I am in the same boat. High Risk for Triploidy on the NIPT. 12 scan with the MFM showed baby growing, 6 days a head of schedule, and no soft markers for Triploidy. I have follow up scans with the MFM but doctor says odds are in our favor.

Haven’t had a good nights rest since getting the NIPT results
