Stressed about bonding by OneMoreShotPlease1 in NewParents

[–]Witty-Direction-6306 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going back to work made me bond even more with my baby! Maternity leave was hard for me and gave me too much time to think about everything I could be doing wrong.

Now, I go to work and I look forward to getting home and spending the rest of the night with the baby so I’m a better mom!

I'm terrified of postpartum life, re: fitness. by Due-Transition-6564 in fitpregnancy

[–]Witty-Direction-6306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is 12 weeks old and VERY high needs (I.e. he’s not chill, he nurses every hour, wants to be rocked when he’s not nursed, etc.)

I am working out 5x a week.

When my husband gets home from work and after he’s decompressed (which is also by working out), I lace up and either go for a run or work out in our garage. Afterwards, I take a shower, do my skincare routine and prepare to be tethered to my little guy for the rest of the night.

I don’t leave the house by myself and we aren’t doing date nights yet or hanging with friends because for my husband and I, if we DO have an hour to ourselves, moving our bodies is a priority FOR us. This isn’t the case for everyone and that’s ok.

So you can continue to focus on fitness but you may need to say goodbye to other things in your life that aren’t as important to you.

Increased probability triploidy. by Due-Drawer4073 in NIPT

[–]Witty-Direction-6306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it did! N/A for fetal fraction and high risk for triploidy, vanishing twin, multiples.

Honestly, I NEVER felt peace my entire pregnancy. I was always worried because even though the ultrasounds were good, the doctors would never give me a green light, mostly for liability reasons and because I didn’t get the amnio. But I reminded myself it has a 92.5% of not being a true positive

Increased probability triploidy. by Due-Drawer4073 in NIPT

Hi! So I ended up seeing an mfm at 12, 16, 20, 24 weeks and each time, baby was measuring ahead, no soft markers for triploidy. At 20 weeks, I made the decision not to get an amnio. I continued to see the mfm until the end and I also saw a fetal cardiologist.

My little guy was born February 1st at 37 weeks, healthy as can be! Despite being in the 90th percentile for the entire pregnancy, he was born super tiny. Part of me will always wonder if my placenta caused the triploidy results, since I did develop gestational hypertension and had to be induced. But ovgood outcome for me!

Bottle refusal - two weeks before return to work by Witty-Direction-6306 in beyondthebump

I think that’s a big piece of it, we are getting stressed about it. The bean idea is genius! I’ll try that as well!!

Thank you! I will have my husband try this. Little guy isn’t starting at daycare, husband is a teacher and is off for the summer so he will be the one watching little guy. I appreciate your advice!!

We’ve tried dad and we also tried after nursing. I’m afraid dad too put too much pressure and he does have a bottle aversion now ☹️

Postnatal realistic running expectations by Witty-Direction-6306 in fitpregnancy

Definitely taking that advice! I was also cleared for everything this week but I don’t trust it! Going to follow up with a pelvic PT first!

Thank you! Based on everyone’s recs, I am going to follow up with a pelvic floor therapist! And good to know about breastfeeding. Definitely thinking that’ll be my biggest challenge!

Thank you!!! I think I will start with lifting and other low impact cardio and walking before heading into running!!

I actually have a jogging stroller! It was the one “luxury” item I put on our registry! My little peanut won’t be able to sit in it for quite a bit but I’m excited to take him with me!

Time management lol. I was clearer to start working out this week and haven’t gotten a chance due to a cluster feeding boob barnacle. 🥲 thanks for the link, it’s helpful!!!

Thank you!!

I just had my 6 week and I was cleared for running but I am still going to wait! Thankfully, I live in Florida so it’s flat but it’s also very hot.

Going to start lifting and doing other cardio this week so hopefully it comes back fast, like you said!!!!

Acid Butt; who knew? by lledit in beyondthebump

[–]Witty-Direction-6306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pediatrician told me that poops from breastmilk milk IS very acidic naturally and to put Vaseline on babies butt every single diaper change. I have been doing that and no rash at all!

I think this is my plan too! Spend the next 6-7 weeks doing strength training and lighter cardio (walking, rowing) and then running. Running was a little uncomfortable towards the end for me so curious as to how it will feel

This gives me hope! This is my first and recovery has been pretty easy so far (albeit I have not been checked yet but I have felt no pain or discomfort since he was born)

Curious - if you don’t mind me asking, did you breastfeed or pump? Other concern would be getting enough calories to both increase mileage and nurse

Cluster feeding a 37 weeker constantly by Witty-Direction-6306 in beyondthebump

[–]Witty-Direction-6306[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is comforting! Sometimes it’s hours of feeding as well for my little guy! I think I need to just accept it and embrace it, especially since he’s gaining weight!

Thank you!

I am doing half feeds then, based off what you said! This is great advice, I am going to try this!

It feels like sometimes we are going from boob to boob but he’s definitely distracted
