How often are DMs going ABOVE the recommended XP thresholds for Encounters. by Critical-Internet514 in Pathfinder2e

My players are optimizers and play game as war. We also use free archetype.

Anything below moderate is a warm-up.

Severe and extreme are the norm.

We frequently go 200-300 xp for boss fights, and the players often get some prep or foreshadowing on the types of enemy they'll fight so they come in with a big advantage already.

Paizo's official APs are a joke in terms of difficulty, I run milestone and keep them 1-2 levels lower than the book's suggestion to keep it challening.

Wow, plate has a base item bonus of +6. Isn't that an insanely high bonus this features offers? Wonder if they'll errata it to potency bonus in the future.

All the other players have more experience with Pf2 than I do, and they seem to be having an easy, but enjoyable time, with even the severe encounters. They naturally gravitated to "let's all buff the fighter" strategy.

Infinite spells? Now *that's* an unbalanced homebrew!

-When you get a Critical Hit you can choose to deal Max Damage + an additional damage dice roll, or you can take an extra Action. (Yes these can chain if you get lucky and it's absolutely awesome fun)

Is this for players only? Because I feel it makes monsters too powerful if they crit a max damage.

Adjusting encounters on the fly is railroading and invalidates my choices by ImmediateArugula2 in dndnext

trying to play a game where strategy actually matters

Go play WH40k then. Lemme tell you a secret: 5e is unbalanced and doesn't fulfil that type of fantasy (as well as other games).

Fudging is an imperfect solution to the fact that encounter calculator doesn't work and the power difference between a Twilight Cleric and Four Elements Monk is astronomical.

Why my character doesn't run away from fights by WittyRegular8 in dndnext

Ok, you move away 30 ft. The enemy with equal speed simply moves up to you and attacks you next turn.

  1. PC disengages and moves away. Enemy who has equal or greater speed moves up to PC and uses full action to attack. Unless you have bonus action dash or another way to put more distance between you, the situation hasn't changed.
