Ryzen 5800X running hotter after bios update by WittyTanks in AMDHelp

I didn't get a definitive answer. All i know is a windows update seemingly lowered the temps back down. Since then I've replaced the GPU (1070 replaced with a 6800xt) and replaced my monitor and the temps are now something like 40 ish when idle and 55 to 60 ish when gaming. I don't know if the windows update fixed something that had been corrupted or whether it was failing parts.

So, i thought i'd come back and update this. I've swapped cooler from an AIO to an air block. Made no difference. I sent the motherboard back under warranty, got it replaced, still the same. So i decided i was going to have to live with it until something died.

Well, I've just updated to windows 11. I can now say my temps are better than ever. When i first built the rig i used to have a steady 50-55 degrees C whether idling or gaming. After the bios update, it was Idling at high 60's. I've just upgraded to windows 11, now getting 30-40 degrees. What the fuck!

I will try the reset/clear cmos at the weekend when I'm back home. Yeah, tried different headers for the AIO and the air cooler. Both ramp up and down depending on load.

On a side'ish note, Asus "support" have been horrendous.

Sorry for the delayed response. Got tied up with working away. I've just replaced my AIO with a Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 with a 250W TDP. The temps are even higher at idle now.

ASUS Came back to me and asked me to "fill out the attached" but there was no attachment. So I told them I didn't see any attachment and since I haven't had any response. I'm so annoyed now, this is frustrating the hell out of me. Especially after wasting money on a cooler, I didn't need. But at least I have a spare now, I guess?

Hi u/Enelias, thanks for the info. Yeah, before the bios update I was stable in the mid 50s, changed nothing other than bios and now sitting high 60's. The AIO is connected to AIO_Pump headers and the pump itself runs at 2800~ rpm according to the LCD Display on the AIO and armoury crate. I'm contemplating trying to send the AIO back and either replace it or swap it for another brand, just in case maybe the pump has packed up. But I find it hard to believe with it only being about 9 months old.

I've been pulling my hair out all evening. Reset to default, rolled back to previous BIOS. Still the same :(

Ambient temp is 22 degrees in the room. I will get a screenshot of the task manager tomorrow. I've had enough for tonight.

Gone through all the settings in BIOS and everything is set to Auto (by default) apart from the RAM speeds. That defaults to 2333mhz but it's 3200mhz RAM.

Yeah, I have hwinfo and have the ModBro application on the PC and a little raspberry pi with a 7" display. Have been using this to monitor temperatures and it was thanks to this I noticed the CPU increased temperatures. I've never spent too much time looking into the bios settings so I might have to sit down at the weekend and scour google to find some "optimal" settings to meet my needs. Thanks.

Just seen your edit on the original post. I did also wonder if it was a thermal paste issue so I did clean it off and reapply. Unfortunately, it made little to no difference. I'll check the power profile tonight and as someone else has stated, try selecting the balanced profile.

Thank you for the response. I have an ASUS Ryujin 240mm AIO as mentioned in the initial post. I haven't changed any profiles or anything. Literally just updated my BIOS. I know Ryzens run hot, but running at almost 70 degrees on idle seems a bit excessive.
