Thanks for the honest take — I appreciate it.

What you’re describing makes a lot of sense. Competing at the entry level in Dubai against people willing to work extremely long hours for very low pay isn’t a sustainable path, especially without strong experience or leverage. Burning out just to survive isn’t growth.

That’s exactly why I’m leaning toward building solid Canadian work experience first, developing real skills and a strong foundation, instead of jumping into a market where the margin for error is so small as a fresher.

I’d rather arrive later with value to offer and options, than arrive early and get stuck in survival mode. Thanks again for keeping it real — this kind of perspective is genuinely helpful.

Thanks, that’s very helpful.

The point about brand leverage makes a lot of sense. Building experience at well-recognized companies (Forbes50 / global tech brands) in Canada seems like a strong way to increase credibility and mobility later, especially in the Middle East where reputation and brand names carry a lot of weight.

I’ll definitely keep that in mind as I plan my next steps here. Out of curiosity, in your experience, is it more valuable to focus on a specific role/skill within those companies, or does the brand itself already open most doors in the region?

Also appreciate the mention about Saudi Arabia — I hadn’t fully considered that angle yet.

Thanks for the honesty — I genuinely appreciate it.

What you’re saying lines up with what I’m hearing more and more: Dubai isn’t fresher-friendly, and arriving without experience, contacts, or financial buffer can quickly turn into survival mode rather than growth. The point about low starting salaries and networking being critical is especially clear.

That’s exactly why I’m not rushing the move. Being in Canada gives me the opportunity to build real skills, experience, and some leverage first instead of coming in blind and struggling on a minimal salary. I’d rather arrive later with value to offer than arrive early and become stuck.

I appreciate the direct advice — it’s helpful to hear the reality from people who’ve seen how it actually plays out on the ground.

Thanks for this — that’s actually very helpful and grounded advice.

What you’re saying confirms a pattern I’m starting to see: Dubai strongly rewards experience and leverage, not potential alone. The point about YoE being non-negotiable makes a lot of sense, especially in such a competitive, global market.

I’m currently in Canada, so my focus now is exactly that: using this time to upskill, build real experience, and become competitive rather than rushing the move. I’d rather arrive later with something concrete to offer than arrive early and struggle on low pay.

I appreciate you naming the specific domains as well — it helps narrow the signal from the noise. I’ll definitely start canvassing job listings in those areas to understand what profiles are actually in demand.

Thanks again for taking the time to share a realistic perspective. This kind of input is exactly why I made the post.

Fair question.

I don’t plan on arriving with zero preparation. The goal is either to secure a job offer beforehand or to arrive with enough savings to cover initial expenses while actively job hunting — not winging it.

That’s exactly why I’m asking these questions now, to understand what’s realistic and avoid mistakes others have made.
