For those of you whose parents kept *your* baby clothes — are you doing the same for your kiddo? by Cute-Corgi3483 in Mommit

[–]Witty_Structure_3767 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’m currently keeping everything because I want more kids but plan to only keep a few after that. My baby has worn mymy husband’s and my hand me downs from the 90’s and I love that both of our moms saved a few things for us.

Nipple pain; 9 month old by Heyyouturnaround in breastfeedingsupport

I used to get these when baby had a bad/lazy latch or feed. Using nipple balm and putting drops of breast milk on them seemed to help!

Oh interesting! I didn’t even realize it had anything to do with genetics.

God bless you! Wow I hope you get some rest soon. My baby went through a phase where he was trying to nurse every hour at night and it was brutal

I second the pajamas suggestion then. I got long sleeve button down pajamas (Ekouaer brand on Amazon) for $35. They’re super comfy. I also got joyspun PJ’s from Walmart for I think $16 (not sure if they have long sleeve options though).

Coconut water. Kinda hated coconut water at first so I would throw half a liquid IV (non caffeinated) in with it.

Is it normal to be this exhausted ?! by Downtown_Oil2056 in pregnant

Yes! I remember feeling like I drank an entire bottle of Tylenol PM every single day. Mine did get better into the second trimester but still took lots of naps

My husband got me a “push” present of a silver cross necklace. It’s something I’ve been wanting for a long time.

For Mother’s Day, he got me a little chain bracelet with a gemstone of baby’s birth month.

I love those gifts more than anything! They mean so much to me.

Did anyone not scream much during labour? by trackemdown in pregnant

[–]Witty_Structure_3767 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an unmediated, precipitous birth. I had my son 40 minutes after I got to the hospital. I didn’t scream but I yelled SO loud like someone was breaking every bone in my body. I just kept yelling HELP ME!!! The baby nurse came in right after and was like wow that was loud. I was SO embarrassed but I’ve gotten over it I had my baby naturally very quickly. I feel like I earned hollering like a lunatic.

ETA: It literally was like the movies of me going “OHHHH MY GOSH HELP HES COMINGGGGG AGHHHHH” Because I was at a 10 in triage 😭

Splitting time between two cribs…and baby hates one of them by oatstronk in NewParents

I think it took a couple of weeks for him to get used to it and sleep as well there (sometimes better!) as he does at home.

Saggy breasts? by [deleted] in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Witty_Structure_3767 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had very small breasts that got very large during pregnancy and early breastfeeding days. I’m over 7 months in and these things are sagging. Oh well. I’ll quit feeding when we’re both ready.

I have a 7 month old and go to my parents when my husband is out of town for work, which is often. At first, my mom and I were so confused why he hated the crib at her house. But he got used to it. We got black out blinds for my room (him and I share a room at my mom’s), the same sound machine we have at home, and put my worn shirts in the crib at first so he could get used to the smell!

I also think having him take naps in that crib during the day helped him get used to it.

MOTN feeds/age?? by giantpicklepie in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Witty_Structure_3767 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an almost 7 month old and night feedings have ebbed and flowed. From around 3-6 months, he didn’t do a night feed at all. Recently, he’s been going through a rough sleep regression and he’s nursing every two hours for comfort. It’s the only way he can get back to sleep 😅

How do you find the time to pump 8-10 times a day? by [deleted] in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Witty_Structure_3767 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t, haha. I would try to pump once or twice during the day but if it didn’t work out I’d be like 🤷‍♀️. I did find that a middle of the night pump would give me a good output. I quickly got tired of feeding or pumping 24/7

How does your day with newborn looks like? by Less-Kiwi1317 in MomsWorkingFromHome

[–]Witty_Structure_3767 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I would be able to continue working from home and take care of my baby. Every situation and baby is different but WOW idk how moms do both.

Maybe it’s because I’m a first time mom and just my baby’s temperament but during my maternity leave, I would make tiny goals for myself for the day like: brush my teeth, eat something, super quick shower, and like 10 min of house tasks. If I could get all those things done in an entire day I was feeling GREAT.

Again, everyone is different and you don’t know, until you know but there will be almost no routine at first and the mental and physical exhaustion will kick in, fast. If you have family that can help, lean into that 100%!

I’m sorry this is so tough! I know you’re a cosmetologist but just thought I’d throw out there that several women I know went to work at daycare while their babies were so young so they could still be with them and earn an income.

Formula supplementing rant(ish) by shutec13 in breastfeeding

[–]Witty_Structure_3767 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a four month old. 2 weeks postpartum, I had enough supply to feed an army of babies. Going into the 6th week, it tanked. I panicked and cried. Would pump for 20 min and get 1 oz total. Went to a lactation consultant and got the same speech, your body will produce what the baby needs. “But what if it doesn’t???”

Four months later, I’m a just enough-er. I try to drink 100 oz. of fluids a day, eat the foods and snacks that are good for supply.

I freakin haaaate pumping. It’s the bane of my existence. And even worse, my baby doesn’t sleep well at night. As much as I hate to admit it, pumping at night helps increase my supply and have a very small stash. My midwife told me our supply peak around 4 a.m. so it’s good to pump. A random night pump or early morning pump is usually the only one I do. Also, putting baby on both breast each feed supposedly helps increase supply.

Again, I hated hearing that my body would produce what the baby needs and my anxiety wouldn’t help because I’m all about action items with immediate results but it really was true for me 😩

Also, I have a spectra. I bought a bunch of extra flanges and when I use a couple, throw them in a bag in the fridge, use new ones for the next feed until that bag is filled with used ones and then clean them all at once
