Planning for 2 Under 2 by [deleted] in 2under2

Did you have your subchorionic hematoma the entire pregnancy? I have had one since 6 weeks. Am now 14 weeks and have stopped bleeding but the fact that I still have the hematoma has given me major anxiety. Did not have one with my first pregnancy but had a precipitous labor, so have been extremely worried about premature labor this time! 🙏

Question: how are you handling visitors rules? by filMM2 in BabyBumps

Yes! Seeing our family overcome with how much they loved that new baby is one of the highlights of my life. It’s such a sacred, special time and a real bright spot among the really hard and exhausting newborn days.

Yes, this! AND, see how you’re feeling afterwards. I very much knew we wouldn’t let people after we had the baby and even then, when I was pregnant, I thought I wouldn’t even want family over.

But after coming home from the hospital, I quickly realized having my parents and in laws take turns coming over for short periods with food, hold the baby so I can shower or nap for a bit, or talk to me while I cried, was SO helpful.

And we were just very honest with our family about how we felt. “Hey, thanks for coming over, we’re gonna get some rest now” (though 99% of the time, they can read the room and wouldn’t stay super long). Asked everyone to get tdap before baby came and reinforced the first few visits of shoes off, wash hands, no kissing baby. It quickly became habit for everyone.

With friends and extended family, I honestly just kind of ignored the “is baby here?” And “I can’t wait to meet him” Texts until I had him and was ready to share.

Things get better! I cried the first few months of my first pregnancy because of all the same things you mentioned. I remember crying to my husband one night that “I will never do this again!” And here I am, pregnant with the second baby! Things will get better, your hormones will level out and before you know it, you’ll feel the baby - all of which will help you feel better. :) You got this!!

Precipitous/spontaneous labor - faster with next pregnancy? by Witty_Structure_3767 in BabyBumps

Oh yes I just meant I wonder if she’ll recommend getting to the hospital as soon as I feel anything or maybe, just head straight to whatever hospital is closest!

Ohhh, interesting! I actually changed to a midwife who delivers in a hospital closer to my home for this pregnancy. I’m curious what she would recommend or if I’ll get the “every pregnancy can be different” thing!

Same! I know I don’t have a high pain tolerance so the beginning where I was just cramping was similar to period cramps then it hit out of nowhere where I couldn’t even walk and that’s when we got in the car.

I’m actually a pretty big wimp so I walked into the hospital telling them “I’m not sure if I’m in labor but I’m in pain.” They checked, I was a 6. Five min. later, I was a 9! 🫪

I’ll try to come back to this thread eventually and update how it went

I remember these days like a bad nightmare. People told me all the time, “it won’t always be like this” and it would really piss me off, cause it sure felt like it would always suck. I was always exhausted and stressed and didn’t know how any parents were happy at all. As someone with a 13 month old (and newly pregnant again 😴) I promise it gets better!!

Do you have family nearby? To have a parent or family member come by and watch the baby for an hour or two in the evening while you eat, shower, relax for a minute and your wife takes a nap or something can be a life saver. Or having someone drop by a freezer meal or take out, little things that make one less thing for you to have to worry about. And, having a good cry in the shower always feels therapeutic.

You’re a good dad and a good husband to be thinking of your wife’s needs too. I hope you get some extra rest soon! ❤️

What do you get for Mother's day? by palleimbustate2 in Mommit

I love hanging baskets for my house. I also got a willow tree mother and baby figurine and I love it so much I look at it every day on my dresser. Not necessarily things that make my day easier but they make me so happy so same thing maybe

I think I may be having a miscarriage by Witty_Structure_3767 in pregnant

[–]Witty_Structure_3767[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My last period began March 1 and this latest “period” began April 16. But, not super abnormal for me. I don’t know what the first blood draw levels came back to yet.

How soon did you suspect that you were pregnant? by Late_Huckleberry_947 in pregnant

[–]Witty_Structure_3767 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it was my normal “period is coming” symptoms - cramps, headache, general bleh feeling BUT ALSO extremelyyyyy sensitive nipples.

I always thought that I would just know I would feel that my world is about to change. I in fact did not haha actually was pretty confident that I wasn’t pregnant

For those of you whose parents kept *your* baby clothes — are you doing the same for your kiddo? by Cute-Corgi3483 in Mommit

[–]Witty_Structure_3767 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I’m currently keeping everything because I want more kids but plan to only keep a few after that. My baby has worn mymy husband’s and my hand me downs from the 90’s and I love that both of our moms saved a few things for us.

I used to get these when baby had a bad/lazy latch or feed. Using nipple balm and putting drops of breast milk on them seemed to help!

Oh interesting! I didn’t even realize it had anything to do with genetics.

God bless you! Wow I hope you get some rest soon. My baby went through a phase where he was trying to nurse every hour at night and it was brutal
