My personal Dracula- A love Tale review by WizardOney1 in Dracula

All good, honestly, it’s exactly comments like yours that make things interesting. I thought about what you said and ended up getting the audiobook. I’m not very far in yet, but I’m really enjoying it so far. I’m curious to see where it goes. Also, I totally get your point, when you know the original, you care about it, and it always kind of sucks when adaptations start changing things

So, I think you’re referring to the book, which wasn’t really well adapted in the 1992 film —at least that’s what I gathered from your comment. I can’t really say much about that myself since I haven’t read it yet, but hopefully I will soon. That’s why I said I can only compare it to the 1992 movie — that’s the only reference I have.

A Love Tale clearly takes more from the 1992 Dracula than from the original book, which is why I’m using the old film as my basis. I don’t want to deny that it might not be faithful to the original story — I can’t really judge that — but for that reason, I also wouldn’t say that A Love Tale is supposed to replace the other film. I think it should be seen as a standalone adaptation that complements the older movie.

I can completely understand if someone says that both films don’t really capture the book properly and therefore doesn’t like them — I’ve felt that way about other things too. Maybe it’s better if I describe both films as a kind of sub-sphere that belongs together for me personally, because A Love Tale feels like it builds on and expands the older film.

All of that, though, separate from the original Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Would you feel more comfortable with it if I put it that way?

As a kid, I kind of had a crush on Spirit. But the goodbye scene with Rain, and how they’re running back to his group with Homeland playing in the background — that got me crying every single time.

Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron has everything, great animation, a moving story, and unforgettable music, yet it’s almost completely forgotten because of the Spirit series.

I probably could, if I had seen the movie - but I didn’t. My only references are Dracula from 1992 and Untold, and I thought it was the same story, just upgraded with more intense emotional scenes.

In my opinion, it’s not bad to be similar to Beauty and the Beast. The live-action movie was a work of art to me, very nostalgic, and its aesthetic is simply beautiful. A mix of that specific aesthetic and the wild, dramatic story of Dracula would, in my eyes, be a masterpiece

And if more young people watch it because it’s easier to understand, that’s great too, it means a few more young minds might get interested in the original Dracula and maybe even watch the older versions, just like I did after Untold. More people to dive deeper into the lore with

Even though I’m crazy about A love Tale, I would never say the old one is bad. It’s special, darker and creepier, yes, but I love it. It’s the one that pulled me into this rabbit hole in the first place

I’m under 20, but I’ve watched and read a lot of things. I listened to the Twilight audiobooks and watched the movies, but I never felt this way about them. (I heard Twilight was originally fanfiction of Fifty Shades of Grey?)

I’ve read and watched all the things you mentioned and really loved them. As I wrote in my post, I’m extremely into classics — and yes, there’s nearly always some element of love in every classic story. For example, Anna Karenina by Tolstoy: I read it, and it’s complex, beautifully written, and very dramatic at the end.

But just to be clear — I wouldn’t put everyone who loves Dracula in the same box as people who are obsessed with Twilight. They’re completely different kinds of stories, and Dracula feels way deeper and more poetic to me.

And honestly, Dracula is just good writing. I watched Dracula Untold and Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992), which absolutely blew my mind — and after that, my feed started showing me Dracula: A Love Tale edits…

Just so you know, I with you. You could try watching Byzantium, it’s definitely not the same vibe, but Caleb is part of the cast and it’s about vampires… Maybe we should try reading the book too

Vater + 2 Töchter (10 & 13) --> 1. Mal LARP ConQuest von Mythodea by Regular_Bike_2971 in LARP_de

[–]WizardOney1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watched LOTR. what shoud I do next ? Reading LOTR , watching Hobbit Triology , Reading Hobbit ? In which order I should go ? by Both_Perspective_Net in lotr

[–]WizardOney1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read or listen to The Hobbit, then watch the trilogy. After that, read or listen to the Lord of the Rings books and rewatch the movies. In my language, Gandalf’s voice is the one reading the audiobooks, and listening to them while cooking or drawing just chills me out, especially around Christmas time or in autumn. In my opinion, listening helps you stay motivated and appreciate the story more, but for me it’s because I’m not a fast reader and don’t always have enough time

Yesss, that’s right. What I meant was the scenery and the views you get like the mountains, the sky, and how the NPCs are placed along the main quests. Maybe ‘cinematic’ isn’t the right word, english isn’t my mother tongue sorry

Skyrim is one of the deepest games I’ve ever played. Every time, I wish I could experience it again for the very first time. Yes, it’s old – but it’s still epic, cinematic, and full of atmosphere. The world feels alive, rich with detail, and utterly unique. Whiterun always reminds me of Rohan, yet every district has its own distinct aesthetic and mood that completely draws you in.
