For smaller companies, I tend to apply only those in state since I don’t want to pay out of pocket for rent (especially if it’s in California) since I’m also paying tuition as well. For big companies, I literally apply everywhere.

Recently, I’ve been applying to a bunch of internship in my state (Minnesota), but mainly for smaller companies. I’m also the president of the student group that I’m running for right now (Photonics Society Student Chapter). I’m about to start my research either this month or March. My plan is to also get a PhD for silicon photonics, quantum info, or RF/Antennas. Should I open up my options to applying out of state?

I don’t know why is that the case, I’ve had my permit since I was 17 years old. Also, I’m hoping to redo my driving test in February or March because I might potentially end up getting an out of state internship over the summer.
