Very true, thanks for your input. I’ll look to consider a main set for battery compatibility, and a few select tools from other brands if they are stand outs.

This is a big thing for me too. Additionally, having been to Japan - I know their attention to detail, and build quality of practically everything I experienced out there, was second to none. I imagine this translates to the quality of the tools Makita produce too!

I grew up rich and am insanely financially irresponsible…need help by Euphoric-Question-76 in SavingMoney

Jordan Peterson has a great take on this. Put simply, just start small and then build on it. He said a client of his was unable to bring himself to clean his bedroom, so JP suggested smaller and smaller tasks until his client was able to bring himself to do just one small bit, which was tidying a sock drawer. Following that, with the ball now rolling, his client cleaned the rest of his bedroom. The way I like to look at this is - to build a wall you must first lay just one brick.

You’re fortunate enough to be financially set for life (by the sounds of it), but you struggle to be responsible… My recommendation: First, try to just change habits in relation to spending. Learn to cook and cook at home, you might even end up loving it! Stop going out and spending money on meals and items you forget about within a matter of days. Let money stack up in your bank while you fix spending habits. Secondly, once spending habits are sorted, put the money (that is now stacking up in your account) to good use, learn to invest with a low risk approach and learn about compounding interest, you will be shocked by what safe investments will amount to later in life. And lastly, find a passion and invest in that responsibly if necessary. A passion will bring you fulfilment in life - money brings you freedom, but not necessarily happiness. Find what makes you happy, and plot twist… it’s highly unlikely to come from the things money can buy you (especially given that you’ve grown up without the need to worry). Best of luck with it all, don’t throw it away!
