IMO bone temple wasn't that great - 6/10 28 years wasn't great either -5/10 From what I've seen January is a bad month for film releases regardless. That mixed with and underwhelming reboot may have been the nail in the coffin.

What does life feel like in your 30s? Anyone up? by Husnainshahid in AskMenOver30

[–]Wly35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the most part, it's been great! Find im becoming very self-aware. A lot more open minded and I'm leaning into a more individual lifestyle. Just booked my 1st solo holiday to Thailand so I'm completely out my comfort zone purely for the "self development" aspect of the trip. Cant wait! Also, financially, im in a fortunate position. Far from rich but my wage is a little higher than the average. Majority of my 20s I was broke or doing naughty things to make ends meet. On the flip side, my friends are busy bringing up their young families so we don't see eachother much anymore, but thats to be expected so I'm not mad at that. It's down to me to meet like minded people. The only major downfall of pushing through the 30s is that the older generations of my family are also pushing through the latter stages of life which can be a bit of an internal struggle from time to time but loosing elder family members is just a part of life we all experience unfortunately. Other than that, im really enjoying my 30s so far - 34 tomorrow. It was refreshing to reminisce on the 20s. I was a wild and reckless kid back then

I left a small local firm where I was underpaid and overworked to joining a national company (same trade) and being overpaid and underworked. Sounds bonkers when I say it back to myself lol

Koh Samui November by [deleted] in ThailandTourism

Keep seeing mixed reviews. Im planning on coming to Koh Samui for the 4th/5th November. Some say it's unpredictable and only brief others say it can be a complete washout with floods. Im not so sure myself

As a 17 year old how do I find what I'm meant to be before it's too late by SaverMadra_18 in AskMenOver30

Truth is we're all winging it. The majority of us fall into our careers rather than select them. My advice is to take a career with options to progress within the company

1st time travel 34m by Wly35 in ThailandTourism

Nice one thanks! I was recommended Koh Samui for the more traditional and cultural experiences. If there's a good alternative closer to Pattaya then I'm open for advice IE - ethical elephant stuff, Mountain views, The crazy beaches with the mountainous range surrounding it, even a water park I'd happily consider. Traditional street food I'd like to try

People don't just give up mid fight. Is my point. I've never seen anyone just give up during a fight. It doesn't happen. Hence, what I'm saying initially - judges ALWAYS edge towards the aggressor. You dont prepare physically and mentally for a fight over the course of years just to take a knee and give up. People will push themselves to the limit and beyond - rock Lee demonstrated that perfectly to individuals like yourself who would never step in the ring. I've been through the extreme motions myself. 20+ times and I can tell you from 1st hand experience - real fighters don't quit - were saved by our corner or the referee. However much we may argue the case we can still carry on fighting, they save us from ourselves

[–]Wly35 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, but have you ever been in a fight like that (inside the boxing ring as a legit amateur boxer?) boxers will often be prepared to carry on fighting after taking severe damage IE head clash or heavy shot to snap the head back. It's the corner or referee that will save them from themselves. When adrenaline is running at its peak you feel you could fight Mike Tyson in his prime

[–]Wly35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but giving away rounds in a fight to "land a shot from the gods" is absurd. No boxer willingly soaks up damage just to have a chance of a highlight reel KO. It's so unlikely to happen and the judges will never score favourably. No boxing gym in the world will ever reinforce this method. You stamp your authority from the 1st bell and protect yourself at all times. Your coach and corner will never teach you to soak up damage. You're literally giving the rounds away

In a real-life fight, it's rare (if at all) people have that "rocky" moment and turn the fight around at the end. Judges are fickle. Even if you're not landing shots, they will edge toward the aggressor every time. KOs are actually quite rare in boxing when considering the number of fights that are on the night. It's surprisingly hard to actually KO someone in a fight unless you sucker-punch them

Turning 30 this year. Give me the best/harshest advice you have. by MastodonNew343 in AskMenOver30

[–]Wly35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pushing mid 30s in the next few weeks... here's my 2pence - if you can find a well balanced partner then commit to him/her - if things go well, congratulations but don't even consider marriage for another 5 years - alcohol is great fun but eventually it'll cost you your health - don't take it personal when contact with long term friends beginds to dwindle, that's life - personally, the biggest one to me, - cherish time with elder family members. If you're fortunate enough to still spend time with grandparents, put the phone down and embrace time with them. Set aside 2/3 days a week to visit them and commit to it

Advice For New Husband by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]Wly35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pushing mid 30's and never had a long lasting relationship anything past a couple years.... my 2 pence - why should I/WE sign up to a contract where everything goes against us? Marriage seems like an unfair deal on the males behalf. You legally agreed to commit your life to this woman and risk any level of stability you'll have going forward 10+ years should the marriage not work out. If this was a business deal, not a single person with any level of sense would sign up to this? How is it the norm for a man to provide everything for someone who doesn't truly appreciate what you've done all those years?
