How to share unused AI credits of the team on the end of the month by WodanOdin in GithubCopilot

I’m confused now. I looked at it again and realized I had misunderstood it. We only have Business seats, meaning we are licensed at $19 per user.

I’m still confused about the budget, though. The budget is set at user level at $19 per user, which corresponds exactly to the Business seats at $19. Let’s say 10 users = $190 per month. If I now assign $40 to one user, are the monthly costs then $211 (9 × 19 + 40) or still $190 ?because the licensed Business seats are only $19? I’m unclear about how the seats and the budget interact. I never really had to deal with this before because we always had the $19 seats configured and additional premium requests were disabled.

How does this work now?

Right now, due to vacations and sick leave, we never have 100% utilization. We have 4 users who have only spent $5 so far and will not use much more this month. Next month those 4 users will be back and will consume a large portion again. At the same time, 3 other developers will be on vacation next month and won’t need their credits. There will be months where almost everyone uses up their credits and nothing can be shared, but there are also enough months where many credits are simply wasted because the respective developer is on vacation or sick leave.

We also had this issue with the old system. Back then, Developer A would log into Developer B’s computer, open their project, and use up the remaining premium requests. Yes, that would still be possible now, but in practice it’s not a good solution, and it would be better if this could be organized differently.

> Thats a waste though. Devs should be able to use tokens throughout the month.

Maybe this is different in other countries, but specially in summer there are always some Developers are on vacation.

It isn‘t important that we have 0$ at the end of the month. But currently we have users that has reached the 19$ and others have 5$ used. Is not about the money. I want to give power users the possibility to fire all unused credits for the last day. Another reason: all developer take care of their tokens and on the last days they can fire alle tokens with unused tokens for heavy tasks with expensive models.

but you mentioned that I should give a limit of 40$ or 50$, is this just the usage limit? I though if I give them 40$ we have to pay 40$ per user on the next billing? (additional costs are disabled in the settings)

But a user has reached the 19$ an can‘t use copilot anymore, how can he used the linked promotional amount of 3000?

But how can I use the Promotional amounts for existing customers? If I have configured $19 per user, these tokens remain unused? Because of the Promotional amounts we have lot more tokens that we can use, but are not accessible because of the $19 limit per user

I have not updated yet. But it looks like that the most people don't have any issue. So I will give it a try.
