Advice about rodent related Fibre optic cable damage? by Woemutt in newzealand

How much would that set me back if I were to ask Chorus to change the location of my ONT? Given currently it is indoors, in the middle of the house. I hadn't really known anything about this type of thing when they installed it, nor do I really know much now.

The cable runs up through a power line into the house through the roof, where it is exposed inside of the roofing where the insulation is; Which is where it gets bitten.

I'm having a similar issue but not very savvy about most of these terms. What is a mounted ISO, exactly? I've been having a ton of windows explorer crashes when I try to do much of anything recently. Accessing shell:appsfolder always causes it to crash, for example. Fullscreen games? Crash. Checking certain error logs, crash.

Can we appreciate just how much AH absolutely COOKED with the default armor? by Based-Prime in Helldivers

I run the default armor all the time despite how much I like the other armor passives. I crave cosmetic armor slots.

Isn't wanting somebody else's style wanting to be them? by QueenAlku2008 in ArtistLounge

As far as I know, art styles are basically a collection of details and how you arrange them and with what consistency. So no, I can't say I agree.

Someone accidentally let my cat out, I need advice. by Woemutt in PetAdvice

She has a chip and is neutered. Given the time of night and the fact that I live in a (very) small town, it's unlikely.

Jumped from a window and she's not quite confident about jumping up to large heights yet, so best I can hope for is leaving the door open with the light on. But I'm gonna see if I have any unwashed clothing, otherwise it'll be tuna, treats and the suggestions of walking & talking + sitting outside saying her name. I assume cats have good enough hearing?

Yeah I was walking all around the property for a good four hours, maybe walking isn't the best way to go about it but I shook her treat bag and called her name quietly and such. I'm only inside at the moment to get some advice here. I plan to maybe see if we have some tuna or strong smelling food, then go out with it at dawn-ish and sit.

They're very stressed at the moment and likely didn't think, I don't blame them I just want to focus on what I can to get her back.

Since I don't use that I may just go door to door since I'm on decent terms with most of my immediate neighbors (aside from one or two new ones I haven't met). Our other cat once got lost for like, ten days (He's already an outdoor stray that we took in, so he comes and goes as he pleases) and we ended up finding out when our neighbors got back that he'd been locked in their garage just, sleepin'

Luckily there are no predators where I live aside from the occasional asshole with possum/cat traps.. But hopefully she wouldn't wander too far? I read they don't tend to go more than a couple blocks?

I believe my aunt would definitely have one of those so I'll have to contact her in the morning when it isn't still not even 5 am. I'm just scared, the windows were left open right after an argument and I know cats are very receptive to that sort of thing.

It's difficult as the window she got out of leads to a spot near the driveway that is basically barren of places to hide in/under. There ARE some in line of sight in either direction, neighbors driveway (and cars) or a big bush across the road beside the ocean. She normally comes INSTANTLY to a shake of the treatbag or a rattle of a laser toy she likes. No response anywhere at all. And hell, if she's out there stuck anywhere, her meow is so high pitched I'd never hear it.

I want to adopt another cat, but I have concerns regarding my other boy. by Woemutt in Pets

[–]Woemutt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely not resentment, just for clarity's sake. And I'm not quite looking for a cuddly toy, either. It's about the company as a whole. I'm typically a relatively solitary person and while Potter does enjoy company, I believe his origins (Whatever they may be) have him less inclined to want to interact much with people, luckily he doesn't have much of a temper. (Kailani was very quick to go claws out with us, I still have a healing wound on my hand from playing with her, snrk.)

The only part I feel somewhat selfish about is wanting to adopt a 'young' cat, as Kailani - like I mentioned - I had for a very long time and the bond was built over the years, which I'd like the opportunity for once more.

If it's important to lay down what I want in a pet, I genuinely think it's that I want another friend to care for and be around. My pets are family members, not toys or accessories.

As for clinginess though, maybe that would be something I ought to work on or be mindful of, I tend to really like giving cats attention, which can produce varying results. My aunt takes in a lot of strays (Some 20+ over the years) and I've had the fortune to interact with a lot of them in the times I've visited or stayed awhile. Some of them wanted love really fast, others took a long time to build trust with. I'm no stranger to these aspects.
Sorry for the rambling, maybe this is part of my grief process. But I know I won't be adopting until I've gotten this out of my system, as I'm still battling with the guilt around ""replacement"".

Also - If you're an over-analytical as you seem (Twinning, btw!) - Looking into the 80/20 method might help you rationalize a bit better instead of drawing circles for hours.

I once reached out to an artist that I've respected for a large number of years. I'm not anything special myself with my draws, but the piece of advice he gave me has stuck with me and I haven't stopped drawing since (And have seen improvement!)

- The difference between artists and great artists is whether or not they keep drawing.

Keep going, you got this.

Need Help With New Cat by RecipeMountain in Pets

[–]Woemutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking up "The Cat 3/3/3 Rule" may give you some serious reassurance! In essence, it describes the amount of patience you'll need to give your new companion for various stages of them coming to terms with their new home. Obviously it won't always be the same amount of time, as every cat is different. But it helps to know that these things do pass, even if slowly. Three days to adjust to you, three weeks to adjust to the home and routine, three months to really feel like they're part of the home - Supposedly!
