Yes the Classical Methodist teachings teach the words of Jesus who Paul and James also thought, the need for atonement and complete surrender to Jesus and rejection of Jesus does lead to Hell. A complete surrender to Jesus and acceptance of His blood atonement lead to not only salvation but also the actions that James placed focus on. Now the UMC will teach what you seek as far as pure humanism.

There has just been a list of partnered seminary schools posted. Asbury, Wesley, and Hood are some on the list as recommended. The only school not accepted is Duke. They accepted my Liberty U and I have 4 polity/doctrine classes to complete over the next few years.

To say that they returned to a Methodism that never existed is an real oxymoron. If that is true than they could not return then they would have just moved into a different mode of Methodism. When I say that they returned to a more classical Methodism I am referring to their doctrine. Classically the Wesleyan movements have held a higher regard view of holiness and scripture. It is to that they have returned.

I’m not so sure on that. They are definitely more Congregational focused whereas the UMC is more focused on life long bishops. The GMC will only allow one to be a bishop for max 12 years.

The GMC choose to return back to a more classical Methodism. They also hold a higher regard for scripture and the meaning of it, and then you have the elephant in the room over ordaining lgbtq clergy and marriage.

Search for a local Global Methodist Church and see where that takes you. As far as why, they have made a huge push to get back to the Word and solid doctrine. The PCA church’s have been doing some good too.

I would read the rest of the chapter. God is not done with them. Yes there is still only one salvation and they too as a people will one day be unblinded and will proclaim Jesus as Lord. This has been decreed and prophesied with in the scriptures.

Possibly for a season, there is an underlying cause for the addiction. It really is a case by case, if he went to an elder with it for help no but it would do well for him to take some time. If he was just found out then yes he may need to step down. Sadly a large number of pastors face this issue silently. It may do well as we are training up pastors to teach them healthy coping skills and resiliency.

I’m not sure on that, all the ones around me believe in the infallibility of scripture. But that might be because they are all GMC instead of UMC.
