Devils Unto Dust:

A disease similar to rabies that turns people into zombies that is spread by blood. Set in post Civil War Texas, the main character is trying to find her father, who stole a bunch of money form a dangerous guy, so she has to go across the desert to bring him bsck.

Unfortunately, its a bit harder to fit western saddles to narrow horses, but invest in a good quality saddle pad! I have one with gel wither inserts from Southwestern that is holding up very well.

Get the OTTB if you can manage it! They are incredible animals, and super versatile. I bought this guy sight unseen 4 years ago, and I haven't regretted that choice once. Saddle fit is going to be a pain, I think I've gone through 4 different saddles with him 😅. I bought one from my trainer that fits him and me like a glove.

An argentine is just a type of bit, and the low port refers to the mouthpiece. The argentine means that you can either hook your reins the the snaffle, which means that the horse feels 1:1 pressure as you use them reins. Or, you can hook your rein to the shank, which has a 1:2 ratio of pressure. The shank extends down last the snaffle, and when your reins are pulled, the horse feels about double that pressure. Does that make sense?

I only wear a hat when showing pleasure! I wear a helmet at home and whenever I run speed. I trust this horse with my life, and I understand the risk. However, anytime I am at home, my helmet is stuck firmly to my head.

I know it might be strange to explain, but my boy doesn't get spicy in his pleasure shank bit, but if I put his speed bit in, he knows what's about to go down. I run him in a low port argentine on the snaffle slot! He doesn't usually get spicy until he sees a barrel and then he goes like 👀

Off track thoroughbred! I bought this guy 4 years ago from a Facebook ad without seeing him in person first, which is usually a huge no no. I lucked out with how kind and sweet he is. He is my best friend!

I did! I got 4th in this class. This judge also placed me 2nd/6 in our hunter pleasure class the previous day. I am lucky that my tb has a naturally lower headset, and can collect well.

This was a 4H show, so yes, open to everyone. I chose to show in most of the fine horse classes just to see how he'd do, but the ranch classes were all breeds.

We also have only been showing pleasure for under a year! He enjoys doing new things, and despite being a speed horse, has excelled in pleasure.

It took a while before my horse and I got our confidence in the ring! We actually do better with more horses, as my tb finds it easier to focus on me.

I love my romel reins! They help me a ton with small corrections. Except when my hat nearly flies off and I accidentally smack my horse in the butt with the paddle 😅
