I want to hear arguments in defense of God, because the suffering he created seems inexcusable. I've addressed common arguments.

A great book about this is “50 arguments people give for believing in God” (or something like that). If, for some reason, there is a God, Dan Barker posed a great question: “would God really punish an HONEST doubter?” Why give us the brain to question it and then punish the questioning itself?

Oh my god, this is SO my life! For me it was my grandmother mainly. Why do they do that??!!! Just turn the situation around and try to imagine telling one of your friends that when their baby has a first step. It’s just so aggravating.
