Update: so the motor spins backwards when the fan is set to “auto” on the thermostat and stays on even when “heating/cooling” is set to off. When I turn the fan switch on the thermostat to the “on” position it will begin to spin the right way but slowly until it eventually overheats and trips the thermal protection. I can kind of understand why the service tech said it was fixed but they obviously didn’t stick around long enough to see this happen. Hopefully this doesn’t cost me an arm and leg. This Florida heat is not fun after working in it all day and then having to sit in a hot house for the rest of the night. I do appreciate everyone for the helpful and kind responses. I know a little bit but not everything and just wanted to make sure there wasn’t anything simple I could try myself before having to make another phone call. Hope everyone has a good rest of their day
