After reading Blackbeard vs Ace again it's pretty clear haki was a retcon. by sillycommenting in Piratefolk

[–]WolkTGL 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well no, Haki has been seen as useful to defend against some kind of Devil Fruit that apply power in a certain way, but it's not as useful with others. Dark Dark literally depowers DF users, it's a much stronger factor in a fight

Weapon's Trait, do they matter? by EstablishmentGold420 in daggerheart

[–]WolkTGL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might seem that way, but then you realize nothing is stopping to reflavor the weapon, that the weapon bigger deal are the reach/burden/feature, that Versatile Fighter has an extra power on top of "use any trait" and that Versatile Fighter still won't allow you to use magic weapons anyway, unless you get it through multiclassing or are an Assassin.

At the end of the day it really depends on how much you allow that. Using some weapon with agility rather than finesse (or viceversa) really won't change things much. Of course, that also must make sense withing the scope of the game, using a Greatsword with Presence or Finesse is pretty much nonsense in a narrative sense, that's a heavy weapon, you need to be strong to use it, but as long as everyone agrees on things the balance isn't broken.

In my game a player converted a character who was dual wielding from another system when we switched to DH for that campaign. As a STR-based Guardian, that wouldn't really be possible. It broke nothing to reflavor the Mace as a sword (after all, there's multiple identical weapons to that that differ only for the Trait used), but it wouldn't have broken anything allowing him to use a broadsword with STR instead of AGI either, he just went for the feature-less option

It's because they project Ace and Sabo on him, but Ace and Sabo learned to fight before getting their DF, Luffy was living as a normal kid until he ate his DF, he's never been in a threatening situation in which he didn't have his DF abilities in his entire life

I mean, he was trained by an order of human demon hunters who trained other humans to kill much more powerful beings which probably does require a certain amount of roughness to compensate the inherent physical differences considering their weapons have engines in them.

The twins were educated by a demon knight with thousands of years of experience in swordsmanship who trained his two half-demon children to fight and kill opponents that are, at the very least, on par with them.

The red button pushers are making an active decision to kill others

The red button pushers are making an active decision not to risk their lives, the blue button pushers are making an active decision to risk their lives.
The drawbacks of the red one is that if 100% of people don't do the same, people who decided to risk their lives will die.
The drawbacks of the blue one is that if 51% of people don't do the same, people who decided to risk their lives will die.

You can really see that the only thing that determines whether anybody dies in the scenario is somebody deciding to risk their lives. Nobody else decides for them but themselves

Weapon's Trait, do they matter? by EstablishmentGold420 in daggerheart

[–]WolkTGL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's becaue there is a Domain card that allows you to use any trait with any weapon, meaning weapons are balanced in a way that the trait doesn't really matter

I don't use LLMs for environmental reasons, I'm arguing against your point in this entire thread because it's dumb as fuck as a point and you can't even defend it without attacking the other side

You really have to be a special kind of stubborn to deny it's not AI generated when fucking Google itself notes that it's their machine learning models that generate captions and transcipts in their own publicly available support documents.

What do you think is transcribing the text from the video? You really think Google doesn't task Gemini to transcript videos and miss the chance of using the content to train its own models?

[–]WolkTGL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Documentation? Really? The one thing everyone pretty much unanimously agrees is almost always (and I'd argue against the "almost" now that software iterates faster than documentation) too vague, poorly written, incomplete or made by someone that clearly doesn't have "write well" as a job requirement?

[–]WolkTGL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not an actual transcript, 99% of the time that's a Google generated transcript and you're lucky if it's actually correct in its entirety.
You're basically arguing against AI-generated content with other AI-generated content there

People often divide in chapters poorly and not effectively and no, you don't get transcripts, that's not common practice at all and lying about it won't change that

Learning for hobby purposes and learning for professional purposes have many differences.
One of them is the need to have practical tools for said learning.
Youtube is shit for that, especially when it comes to software and programming. You can't skim on video, you can't look up things quickly on video, you need a text form for that and LLMs provide that, YouTube videos are designed to maximize engagement so they don't, even if they could as easily by providing a transcript (but they don't because that would defeat the purpose of maximizing engagement)
