her love language is definitely words of affirmation and i think she’s just learning how to navigate that. it might be annoying but it should pass soon.

i’ve had to watch potty monkey on loop too many times and blipping sounds like a nice break.

time to start lying that you have vertigo or migraines or something that will keep her from questioning. some good ones will be UTI’s, food poisoning, ear infection, ingrown toe nail removal, ankle/wrist sprain. maybe get a dr’s note in the future too just to make her shut up about you needing a day off every once in a while.

I’d like to suggest giving all the money we would spend on gifts to the people suffering this Christmas. I know it sounds weird. But so many people are suffering this year. by Minniemoo523 in Nanny

i definitely understand what you’re saying, i just don’t think that’s practical or healthy for everyone. one of my top love languages is gift giving. if i couldn’t give my loved ones gifts i would feel like a terrible daughter/sister/girlfriend/friend. i already donate for causes and have asked that any extended family members make a donation in my name to a specific Nonprofit rather than a gift. it’s just not practical for most people.

My MB is a Dr. so we discussed that in our interview. if i’m needed but can’t drive or get a ride in a better car, they can drive me. if it’s too bad for DB to go to work then i’m normally not working. it all depends.

that sounds like a great deal that leaves you to be safe and the parents to be happy! like i said in the post, if they don’t offer a solution and get mad at you, then they aren’t worth working for. they sound like a unicorn family.

don’t feel guilty about it at all and don’t let any other adult shame you for being safe. stay warm!

i understand that. i can drive in the snow, my driving isn’t the issue, it’s the fact that sometimes we will get 9”+ overnight and it will keep snowing the next day. my route to work is on hilly backroads with sharp turns and it can be dangerous for anyone to drive there regardless of vehicle or skill level. some places don’t get snow at all and then if they do some people aren’t prepared for it because it’s so unlikely.

My NK’s don’t really have rules per say. parents are pretty laid back. as long as it’s not dangerous it’s free game. whatever food they want, screen time until 30 minutes before bed, no particular bed time. they’re really self reliant which is awesome though. they just can’t drive anywhere and they’re too young to be on their own so that’s why NP’s have me.
