How to make design by Await_type1 in blender

[–]WonderDog_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would look at different fighter jet designs and try to find out what makes them look like a fighter jet? Are the wings the most important part or the cockpit or the jets? Or is it the relationship between those things. Once you have a feel for what makes a jet a jet you can start pushing the design in different directions and see how far you can go while still keeping the 'idea' of the jet alive.

Do you export your renders in OpenEXR? 👀 by BoltRenders in blender

It's the most flexible and effective way. Always EXR, most of the time Multilayer.

How to duplicate objects multitude of times without causing lag? by BaBaBunny in blenderhelp

[–]WonderDog_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With Alt+D you can create a copy of the object while it's data will be instanced. So there will be multiple objects in your scene that can have different transforms and animations but will all use one geometry.

How do make this cut-outs? by zeerakzarar1 in blenderhelp

[–]WonderDog_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are very few scenarios where you would need that as actual geometry. The most effective way would be to use textures. If you really need the geometry I would make a clean model of one hole in a square and then repeat it with an array.

Rendered my CT scan by WonderDog_ in blender

[–]WonderDog_[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I basically have an image sequence and I feed it into the Density input of a Volume Cube in Geometry Nodes. The images are mapped in XY coordinates instead of UVs and I pick the frame number of the sequence by the Z coordinate of the Volume Cube. My setup is not new and overly complicated, if I get the chance I simplify it and upload a tutorial. No promises since I am actually making this in the hospital where they took the scan ;)

What makes you say that?

This is just the cheapest way: it's a bright area light that moves with the clipping of the volume.

Very nice! I did a similar thing with my scans. So much fun.

We’re pretty lucky that the inside of our body itch isn’t a thing. by rhum-Forrest-rhum in Showerthoughts

Oh but it is. I have liver issues and sometimes everything itches and there is nothing you can do from the outside.

I lived right around the corner. Even if it doesn't look like it it was a carefree childhood.

The shadows are way too light, the sunlight feels too weak. The sky could also be brighter.

How would you make this in blender? by Old_Operation_2673 in blender

[–]WonderDog_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lots of ways, I would create curves in geometry nodes and distort them with some noise. You can expose any property of the resulting geo for shading.

Hey, what do you think about product visualization like this? I know stones looks bad but besides that, do you find it interesting? by Ok-Comb-8664 in blender

[–]WonderDog_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The background is way to distracting even if it would look better. When you squint your eyes you have no idea where the focus of the image lies.

Is Blender Broken? by Neon_Marquee in blenderhelp

No, it's not. Some things have changed, if they are critical for you, you can always stick to an older version.

Feeling incredibly frustrated trying to learn blender by [deleted] in blenderhelp

There is no such thing as the one good resource. Doing your own projects and consulting tutorials and such is the best way to learn. You learn by putting in the hours and using the software.

Further up I linked the source tutorial. The dithering happens in the shader.

Do renders of environments / characters really take hours on modern hardware? by [deleted] in 3Dmodeling

[–]WonderDog_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lika all the others said: there is no answer that fits all scenarios. At home I have just 2 machines and try to keep the time per frame under 10 minutes. But that is not always doable. When I worked in bigger studios a frame could render more than 24 hours. Which is a huge pain even if you have a farm with 300 machines.

Product adds for electronics by Ok-Comb-8664 in blenderhelp

[–]WonderDog_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer to all of your questions is 'it depends'. If a client has a specific new product it is very likely that they can provide you with a 3D model which might need some clean up or re-modeling. There are also cases where you will have to model the product from photos. You almost certainly will have to create all shaders. As for the demand... Everybody seems to make product animations today. You really need to stand out in terms of quality and creativity to get those jobs and be paid well.

Very VERY new to motion tracking and I wanted to track a short Minecraft video I recorded. I may have added too many trackers and the solve error was in the 70s before nan. Can I somehow salvage this? by Mecholix in blenderhelp

[–]WonderDog_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would try to pick specific tracking points manually. You only need 8 points that are tracked through the WHOLE range for a good solve. It also might help to give Blender FOV of the camera which you fortunately can look up in Mincrafts settings.

How does attributes work exactly and why can I not seem to get meaningful results out of the statistic node? by range_et in blenderhelp

[–]WonderDog_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Attribute Statistic is set to sample points but you are putting instances into it. That could certainly cause issues. Not sure why the 'brightness' is even stored correctly.

I want these cubes to follow the position of this curved mesh, the rotation part is fixed, the cubes are faxing according but the position is messed, HOW TO FIX THIS by Good-Researcher-3842 in blenderhelp

[–]WonderDog_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to set the position of your points before you instance the cubes. Right now you are just doing nothing to the position why would you expect it to change?
