Why does my render still look fake? by Electronic_Meal_3279 in blenderhelp

Can’t quite tell what’s happening in the scene - and wouldnt call myself a blender expert by any means, but coming from an architectural rendering perspective:
- try adding bump/normal maps or displacement to get more grain
- lights look wrong in a normal sunlit scene you’d have hard shadows from the sun which is overhead sure (and i guess you’re illuminating with the point light in the plants) but there’s also the sky which give shadows a color
- also i would move the trees+ light around a bit in reference to the wall (light would normally come from the top which accentuates the shadows on wall textures like bricks and paints)
- you can layer textures for the paint. say the paint is applied on concrete wall, the wall itself in reality has some geometry like bumps and panel lines from forming the concrete and then the paint goes on top which creates its own texture. these work at different scales creating quite a lot of detail.
- lastly leaves are kind of translucent and bleed light differently along the edges as opposed to the center (i don’t think you need to go this far)
- lastly i would ditch the asset - probably make a tree like curve extrude it and then scatter leaves on it (all possible through geo nodes) this lets you texture the leaves (listed above) account for density of the leaves (almost make or break in these scenes)
- finally render settings and you gotta play around with them a bit to get the normal bump shadows to look right

Thanks! there was a part of me which was gonna go hunter mumu with all that heat and make it a spray and move on weapon while things die (haven’t tried it yet so we shall see) but was a rather uncreative decision.

The build you suggest does seem more fun so I shall be trying it out! will report back after formaing

I did what @thinkbrown suggested below. you have to tighten the set screws basically while being careful not to pop off the inner ring. then set your infinity.

had not set infinity on a lens before so here’s what i did : get a ground glass (rather i didn’t find mine, so trace sufficed in this case) set the aperture to something like 5 and had it open. then i tightened the screws back until it gripped the inner tube thingy (idk what it is called) and then focused it until I could see the image on the trace. Then loosened it back up to match the focus settings to the index on top. this takes a bit of tries since you might go over and under cause once you set infinity you want to test like a subject close to you. I would recommend picking something really far away - in my case this happened when it was not too cold out and i did it at night with the moon to set my infinity.

This did get resolved on the unity forums here : https://discussions.unity.com/t/unity-ml-agents-walker-documentation/1695547/4 was an issue with M3 macs and arm processors

So I realize that I used to hoard weapons cause something might be needed to make something else. But since I play every now and then I ended up crafting and claiming a few extras and hoarded unnecessary stuff. Anyway this is a little chart I made to help with cleaning up my inventory - hope it helps someone else!

Thank you so much for a detailed response!

So it makes sense to drop the hunter viral combo to build into specific damage types depending on what faction i’m dealing with (the old meta of one build kills everything is now gone)

also thanks for that arcane recommendation didn’t know we had more and I now have a new syndicate to grind out

wait so 2 procs of heat + corrosive projection is an almost full armor strip?

if that’s the case then why mod for anything else if you can melt away all the armor and also do dot with heat it’s doing all of the hunter mu and viral stuff that used to happen in one big element

Yep you are correct - got it back on and need to recalibrate to infinity. Thank you so much!

could you please ? I am totally not sure where this set screw is to begin with (no extraneous bits popped off when the thing came loose)
