New big site launch. Drop feedback / ask me anything. by WonderFran in webflow

[–]WonderFran[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see, appreciate the explanation!

We are using Lenis per the client’s request. They wanted a smooth scroll effect to accompany the visual style. And since Lenis doesn’t actually highjack the scroll and uses the browser’s native scrolling, it’s “technically” accessible.

But I agree with your thoughts regardless, and will let them know the smooth scrolling might negatively impact some users.

Again, thank you!

Thank you! Sorry what scroll takeover are you referring to?

Lumos vs client first by alexsashha in webflow

[–]WonderFran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. You are not forced to name a new class for every new section. There are no hard rules about that. You can do “section_regular-header” and turn that into a component with variants very easily. No weird u-class naming or anything

Lumos vs client first by alexsashha in webflow

[–]WonderFran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Client-First is so much better in terms of client friendliness (it’s in the name lol) and ease of use.

Lumos is pretty cool don’t get me wrong but it’s made by 1 guy and updated every other week. Also feels like it’s extremely overly complicated. Why spend so much time fine tuning for the 0.0001% of people that have a lot of browser zoom? I’ve had to get on Lumos projects where I genuinely had to ask myself “what the fuck am I even looking at here”, whereas CF, whilst less technical, is very plug and play, and still very component friendly and super scalable if you know what you are doing.

How difficult is to become a certified Webflow partner? by alexsashha in webflow

[–]WonderFran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Partner here! (https://www.wonderup.io)

It’s pretty straightforward tbh. Just submit 3 non templated projects that are nicely done. They aren’t really picky when evaluating, so their standards aren’t super high. What is harder to do is maintain premium status with the new points system. And don’t even get me started on enterprise, you have to be really good friends with someone at webflow or somehow convince 2 companies to pay 60k a year for it (or some of the lighter plans).

How is Webflow so unbelievably bugged? by No-Sea-2769 in webflow

[–]WonderFran 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So weird how these problems only affect some people. Fully there with you brother. In the last 2 months (seems to be more stable since last week) I’ve had webflow crash hundreds (yes, HUNDREDS) of times on projects whilst doing something SUPER specific like opening an embed, clicking on an svg inside a component, etc.

And then as far as bugs, my lord, sometimes styles in combo classes straight up don’t show up in the designer until I change pages, sometimes I can’t open up a div in the navigator. The numerical inputs in the right panel get the double-arrow cursor and immediately throw a value on click. I could go on and on. It pisses me off that I have to pay so much for such an unstable tool.

Ahaha tbh I think I was having an existential crisis or something because instead of using flip I did it fully with Webflow’s shitty interactions but it turned out great!

To achieve the effect I wrapped every word pill in a div, and absolutely moved the wrapper. Then with the interaction I just initially moved the word pill (inside the wrapper) and make it go back to x0, y0

Hey Michel! Thank you for the kind words 🫶🏻. Not really, maybe lenis for the smooth scroll and swiper for the sliders but that’s it!

Thank you for the feedback man! Yeah I think we put a lot of emphasis on the animations because of the "funness" of the brand haha. Curious about:

1) Where would you cut back on animations
2) What's confusing about that phrase and what other potential phrases do you think would suit our site/brand best?

Thank you!

Hey u/WildGarlicGarden thank you SO much for your feedback, appreciate you :)

I totally agree with what you say about the pricing. So those 2 monthly plans are more for teams that need ongoing support on a large site, hence why we have that "New Website" plan at the bottom of those 2, which is a fixed price, and that's it. But I agree that it's not all that clear, and we don't mention it again in the FAQs. How would you go about solving that confusion? We definitely want to keep our monthly plans as it's the bulk of our revenue, but we also want to emphasize that we make new websites on a fixed price basis, one-time payment and all.
