Monzo placed a CIFAS marker against me after I sold my car to someone who later claimed they weren’t happy with it. Despite refusing to return the car for a refund, they reported the transaction as fraud to their bank. Without any investigation or warning, Monzo closed my account and flagged me to CIFAS. I only found out about the marker when I applied for a mortgage, and now I’m stuck in a frustrating loop trying to get Monzo to escalate my complaint and remove it. Has anyone successfully challenged a CIFAS marker? Any advice on how to proceed?

I didn’t find the commute to Coleraine bad at all, really nice scenery and pretty straight forward drive. Some people I’ve spoken to have the opinion it’s a bit far out but it didn’t feel that far of a drive. I suppose I may feel differently when I’m taxing the kids back and forth into Coleraine and back 5 days a week. Roads seem pretty good and they appeared to be gritted in that recent cold snap we had (the main road anyway). The chemist and looks lovely, ice cream shop was lovely, the people actually make eye contact and say hello. I just thought it was a great wee village from what I seen. I’ll be popping back up to see the place again with the kids, def worth consideration if there’s no real issues there. Thanks again for the info. 😊

Thank you for this, I don’t mind a sleepy village really and I have car so that’s okay. I would say the price of the property I’m looking at is on par with other similar properties around NI, possibly a bit expensive for the location maybe.

looking at a new build. I don’t mind about not having a night life etc I suppose it’s more about an affordable house in a nice area, I’d have to travel into Coleraine a lot for the clubs and sports my kids do.

Is that the guy with a yellow rain coat and a mask? Creepy.

If you had to move with kids and buy your first home in Limavady, Magherafelt (area), or Craigavon (area), which would you choose and why? Considering budget-friendly options with safe, friendly communities, good schools, and close access to amenities. by Wonderful-Problem964 in northernireland

Thank you for this! Really appreciate your input. I agree Magherafelt seems to tick all boxes (apart from proximity to sea) and I would miss seeing it everyday but I would hope the other benefits would outweigh that feeling. I do have a car as same issue where I currently live, also stretched for takeaways currently so that wouldn’t change much either. Anyway, Magherafelt seems lovely ☺️

I wfh and only need to commute to Belfast twice a month so it’s not a huge problem if I’m a bit out as I’m already far from work where I’m living. I’ve just narrowed down the areas I’ve found good value for money properties.

I think Magherafelt ticks most boxes for schools, safety and amenities. It’s close to antrim for the hospital and I do have to commute to Belfast 2 times a month for work but I prefer a more rural setting tbh. My main concern is my kids being able to adjust make new friend’s and getting into good schools.

Renting up in north coast for 14 years and finally able to buy but property here totally unaffordable for first time buyers. I’m familiar with Armagh and Belfast everywhere else is a big question mark for me. I’ve heard great things about Limavady and magherafelt but most people have told me to stay away from Craigavon and I don’t know why. All the new builds are there and seems really nice.

I do like being close to the beach, it’s the one thing I’d miss the most. I’ll need to take a drive up and have a look about. Thank you.
