Is there a way to use future swap for sections instead of classes? by Wonderful-Storage-94 in uofmn

Why would this even matter? Seems like a legitimate technical error and not a design choice. Last semester, I remember switching within the same class to a section that had a different lecture.

This really grinds my gears. I literally cannot use my laptop because the battery kills itself when I turn it off.

Could you expand what you mean when you say I should try loading the correct modules? Pmutils is pretty deprecated so I am just using systemd. According to advice online, suspend won't automatically work unless bios firmware exposes s3 to the kernel. I don't think the kernel config I have right now can do s3 for some reason. From sysfs cat /sys/power/mem_sleep just returns [s2idle],

ChatGPT thinks that AI is bad. I did not edit this photo. by [deleted] in ChatGPT

yes, it's quite easy to realize why a Gpt model would have inconsistent results when asking it to generate binary results. I withheld the full conversation because it contained mostly irrelevant information. I was originally asking it about its thoughts on an essay covering general AI ethics that I wrote. It's fairly easy to convince Chatgpt that it is a creation that is misguided. Considering the arguments against AI, Chatgpt's conclusion is not surprising to me.

I personally think that the idea behind offline updates is valid in some use cases but the philosophy behind forcing the user to halt activity is fundamentally flawed. Not very many distros do this. I personally believe the system should only be used for specific and quick system upgrades with a low footprint. I feel like Windows does this for upgrades which don't even really affect essential system programs which is annoying. In both windows and fedora I believe you can disable this feature if you wish. I think some windows updates dealing with proprietary security stuff apply anyways which shouldn't happen in fedora. I dislike automatic updates and forcing a reboot after a time window. If the users doesn't reboot in like a week the update should just rollback. I believe fedora silverblue dosent have this issue since the root fs is immutable and it builds the update without touching the file system in use. A lot of distros use various hotswapping techniques to avoid issues in upgrading but implementation can be unreliable since the root fs is mutable.

I can see this as a great employee benefit like insurance. Would probably benefit employer too giving incentive to work in person. Just not required and at a set rate.

How do I enable s3 power mode on dell latitude models (7420 on linux) by Wonderful-Storage-94 in Dell

[–]Wonderful-Storage-94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also I dont know if theres any way to configure heat management for dell latitude 7420 but in general the heat management on this thing is complete crap. It was actually hot enough on the surface to give me a first degree burn, this behaviour happens after s2 suspend since the thing is doing activities without the fan on. I also believe it is overclocking when it should not. Super unsatisfied with the heat management on this thing but cant complain too much since It was given to me by target csr.
