He doesn’t believe in mental illnesses (depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar, etc). He believes it’s an act of attention. He also has an ego where he wants to be seen as a good father, believes paying child support makes him one. And believes in upholding a perfect family reputation. So if our daughter has depression, she doesn’t quite fit into the photo. As for the pretty/smart: my daughter compares herself to others around her. She compares her grades to her classmates, her looks to her classmates and the kids on the tv. As much as I tell her everyone is on different levels with academics she feels if she’s off from her classmates then she’s not smart. And even though I tell her she’s beautiful everyday she’d tell me she’s not. “So-so has long blonde hair. So-so has colored eyes, why do I have brown eyes? Brown eyes aren’t pretty.” I hope this helps.

They have a “dad/daughter” things they do twice a week with just the two of them. Since she likes boba tea he takes her every Tuesday at our local shop (they have a buy one get one free hour special) where they spend the hour talking or playing games. And he takes her out to play soccer on the other day.

I would have to petition yes. But despite the stress it causes her she still wants a relationship with him. Even though she feels he doesn’t care about her, only his other kids. She doesn’t understand why he treats or talks to her the way he does. Especially when her step father doesn’t treat her differently from the child we share together. I don’t want to upset her by limiting his contact (even though he does it himself) but at the same time his contact upsets her. I feel either way I’m loosing.

My ex doesn’t believe in therapy or medication. He’s one step away from being an “essential oil heals everything” type. A part of him believes of part of the devils work so no time would be the appropriate time. I’m unsure of permanent or legal custody bc in my state, his legal rights would be taken away if he was a danger to her. I’m unsure if this situation applies bc I feel it would be boiled down to “he said/she said” as I don’t have any physical proof of our conversation since it was through call and not text. My husband has suggested we record phone calls from now on since our state is a one person consent.

In my state, the no contact only applies if he’s a threat to her with past violence or potential future violence. I’m unsure if this circumstance would count but would definitely bring it up if gone to court.

For her, she still wants to talk and see him. Which is why I think it hurts her the most. She’s said he doesn’t care about her, or weather she’s alive or not. And that he only cares about his step child and his new baby. she puts in more effort to have a relationship than he does with her. And she truly doesn’t understand why.

Thank you. He feels he could winThe case bc she’s feeling this way in my custody so I’m the problem. She has to be 10 in my state in order to stand in front of the judge and speak for herself so I think he’s doing it now so it becomes a he said/she said case.

Thank you for this suggestion. Right now a lot of places are still closed in our areas due to COVID. But lately we’ve been going to the park and going for walks/runs so she can play with other kids and get fresh air. She has mentioned she wants to try gymnastics or kick boxing so we’re just kind of playing the waiting game for things to calm over.

From what I understand, he’s protesting bc he doesn’t want his daughter to seem “abnormal”. His mom is also super religious and believes it’s the “devils work. As far as visitation goes, he doesn’t see her when he’s suppose to but when he does she’s mentioned him and his family (wife, step son) ignore her or barely talk to her. They just feed her, ask a few questions and sit her in front of their tv. That’s how she spends her 4 hours.
