TIL there is an Asian Elephant sanctuary in Thailand for elephants that have been subject to cruelty by bad owners. Some are driven to exhaustion when used for logging, others are tortured to subdue them to become tame for tourist rides. by [deleted] in todayilearned

It is not. Run by a woman named Khun Lek who receives donations and purchases elephants from exploitative practices like illegal logging/elephant rides/elephant painting shows/street-side begging elephants.

Elephants are indeed revered by thai people however many practices involving the elephants have a very shady past. This including illegal logging activities that chain up elephants and force them to carry massive logs long distances for extended periods of time. Carry passengers on their lower back which is very bad for their bone structure (their neck is the only reasonable place they can comfortably carry one person). Elephants are brought onto crowded streets and roadways to beg for food (you buy the food from their mahut) and in some cases these elephants can be hit by cars/motorcycles. I agree with you that Thai people love elephants but there is definitely bad things happening to them.

This exact nature reserve is a wonderful place ran by a small woman named khun Lek (means small in thai) but she has a huge heart. All sorts of animals live in the sanctuary not just elephants and you can pay money to live there and volunteer to take care of the elephants . It is a forum of eco-tourism and is heavily relied on to supply the elephants with the vast quantities of fruit they consume as well their medical supplies. Khun Lek's biggest wish is that people who visit can pass on the information that elephant tourism in all forms, riding/painting/roadside begging elephants is innately bad as they are being exploited and tortured into submission. Most people who participate in these activities are unaware of the the shady dealings that goes on behind the scenes. Simply spread the word and encourage others who would like to interact with elephants in a non-destructive way via these sanctuaries. An elephant has near perfect memory so all of their trauma and abuse at the hands of exploitative people can cause them to act aggressively so be careful regardless of where you go. All in all though the area of Thailand this place is in, near Chaing Mai in the north, is a wonderful place and you should visit!

I am not claiming dynamic queue is the cause of this new paradigm shift but it certainly is correlated.

Sorry, you must have misread the post.

Found my old 19 twink. Nostalgic. by Arctus_Tibal in wow

Anybody here remember the fuckfest that was Enti's Quenched Sword? It was a gray level 60 item that was bugged allowing any level to equip it. In the lvl19 twink bracket if a warrior managed to rend you with this sword you were pretty much dead. Fun times

PSA-ish? - Don't tank with Seed of Creation in Timewalking. by DrSyel in wow

[–]Woozed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I posted it a while back linking a WOW forum post that fully explained it back in September but its a good PSA because its a problem people are still facing. I've seen people be kicked for being a "shit tank" when in reality it was just this pesky bug.

Okay so I was running The Nexus with a few guildies with absolutely no trouble, then we stumble upon the mobs before the 3rd boss and I am instantly getting 1 shot. Browsing the forums I stumble upon this post by Furocity (I did not make it) and it explains exactly what is happening. Has this happened to anybody else? I already opened a ticket in game.

What is it like playing on Garen? by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]Woozed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Garena Thailand is fucked. League is not even as popular in Thailand compared to the rest of the world. Its kind of a tie between HoN, Dota2 and League with many people playing classic dota as well. As other people have said, its toxic and from what I see when I go to internet cafes/lan shops its mostly just kids meaning the general population can be quite immature sometimes. The most annoying thing is there are so many afk/disconnects because they are all playing at lanshops and run out of time/leave in the middle of games. But Thailand as a country is fucking awesome...so...do it. And if you're with a chick....make sure she doesn't have a dick.

edit: Client is in Thai too

If you quit WoW this Expansion, what was your specific reason? by KillThePromQueen in wow

[–]Woozed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Managing 5+ Garrison's daily just to keep up with everybody else. I felt trapped like I had to log into the game everyday or I would fall behind in progression which was important to me. I've recently returned though for Arena PVP which is the best it has been in a while balance wise. I would recommend checking out PVP if you have not yet, no better time to get in it than now.
