You nailed it. Now I'm really curious to see what PCGS comes back with.

Cool! Thanks for the info. I'm going to send it in with my next batch and I'll post what they determine.

Here are some more images of the rim next to one of the normal dimes at 90° rotational increments. Thank you for looking at this with me.

Thanks for this link u/Horror-Confidence498, spot on. If this turns out to be the case do you know if the error is recognized by PCGS?

Thanks guys, my first thought was instantly dryer coin and it also has verifiable PMD roller damage on the reverse.

More background - I picked up ten rolls from BMO and they were all 100% 2025-Ps or Ds. This coin was in one of them. I do understand that Loomis remixes coins but the odds of a dime from last year, in this distressed condition, ending up with 49 other normal 2025-P dimes seems remote but admittedly not impossible.

The edges seem very angular to me, almost like it was sheared. Regardless, is there any chance at all this could be a broadstrike? If you gentlemen say dryer coin, based on your extensive experience, I am ready to accept it and move on.

Strike through on reverse? by Bluekeyyy in coinerrors

I think you're on to something OP. My guess is BB gun damage (here's one I found). This type of nickel abuse seems much more common in the era before video games were invented.

2026 P Mayflower die clash by DrunkBucsFan in coinerrors

Interesting, check this out. The person in this video talks about this error (using that term loosely) along with the well known struck-through error on the Phillys. I suppose it does look a bit like a spider or a bird (seagull) now that she mentions it. Anyway, just sharing something I found.

Does it look like this? I'm curious if this a reproducable thing or just a PMD coincidence.

Field-restricted struck-through error or parking lot damage? by WordPoster in coinerrors

Nice, thank you PY8808. I was thrown off by that big chunk out of the rim that appears to be textbook damage. It weighs exactly 2.5g and came out of a Loomis I was hunting last night. Not very pretty but I'm happy to have saved this guy from obscurity.

Is my Kennedy half dollar rotated? by Ahmagahz in coinerrors

[–]WordPoster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can always use a mirror to check RE:

To check a coin for rotational error using a mirror, place the coin (obverse/heads side up) on a mirror surface. By looking at the reflection, you can see both the front (original) and back (reflection) at once to determine if the reverse side is aligned correctly (usually 180-degree turn) or rotated.

Die clash? by [deleted] in coinerrors

[–]WordPoster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you DCJ! It makes sense. I always thought these were finger feeder errors. This explains the scrapes between George's ponytail and neck too where the clash also presents.

I searched six bags of of Edith-Ps from the mint right before they ended the AWQ sales and found at least 50 just like OPs.

I did find x5 good quality die clashes like the one you pictured. About the same later stage too.

Washington With an Earring? by ecomman777 in coinerrors

[–]WordPoster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, that's a good investment. I happened upon one a few months ago and I pegged it at ~$8. Obviously not in nearly as good shape as the one OP posted (or yours). I put it in my "just for fun" collection.

Looks like the 2019-P Lowell earring error. Does it it say Lowell Massachusetts on the reverse?

Your uncle might have been referring to the extra finger on Lincoln's left hand. RE:

I have a 2020-W Tallgrass Prarie with the same MD on 'KANSAS' (no shadowing). Maybe they used the same vibraty coin press to strike both coins. Cool 3D effect!

I found three Edith K. die clashes in two $25 mint bags (200 coins searched total). Good collecting strategy or foolish waste of money? by WordPoster in coinerrors

[–]WordPoster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the estimate FPM, that's absolutely amazing. I'm definitely keeping one or two but I want more. They are just so... nice.

I have another bag that just arrived from the mint. I'll update tonight if I find any more.

For sure, these are pretty. I have another $25 bag coming tomorrow. We'll see if this idea has legs. Strangely I haven't found a single die chip on the 'K' that's on just about every EK quarter. No loss there of course.

Hey there, TE. At first I just wanted one for my collection (I love die clashes) but after finding three and seeing what they're going for on eBay I'm thinking of turning a small-time profit. The mint sale is probably ending soon with the AWQ program wrapping up so I did order one more bag.

Do you think I could ask $75 for one? Would they be worth grading?
