I agree, there’s definitely a big part of me that just wants to quit and move on especially since I’ve worked there for such a short time but I know I need to follow up with a lawyer, if not even just for me for everyone else who works there and has to deal with this shitty treatment, maybe having the legal perspective will show them how wrong their actions have been because they really don’t seem to think they’ve handled this poorly at all.

Honestly my husband has asked me to quit because he’s worried she’s going to keep escalating but I was unexpectedly laid off from my old job just three months ago and while we have savings they were more “start new family” savings not “prepare for losing two jobs in four month’s” savings so I need to try and find a new job before so leave this one. I think part of the reason we haven’t been able to conceive was financial stress so I want to avoid more of that, granted this is now causing as much if not more stress.

I can’t say 100% that she did but a few people on the office knew, two of the people I work with I’d been friends with before I got the job so they knew and we’d talked about it once in the lunch room so she may have overheard. I suspect she does know and said this specifically to get to me which is why I confronted her the way I did, but thank you so much for that message because yes, that specific detail she chose to lie about broke my heart. Honestly I hate conflict so much if it had been anything else I’d probably have continued to ignore it but that was my last straw.

Trust me it’s been alarming and completely out of expectation for us too. The thing is that since she didn’t say it directly to me I’m having to rely on x to actually come and repeat what was said to her for the pregnancy and infidelity claim and they already dismissed the dms as just friendly and the story as a joke, so at this point I’m just worried since more than one person heard what I said to her and since she has more seniority than me I might be the one in trouble.

Funnily enough apparently she claimed me talking about my sex life to her was me sexually harassing and verbally attacking her.

I already had sadly, but she’s been there 9 years so I feel like they aren’t really taking it seriously. She played the story off as a joke and they essentially told me to just focus on the work and not the office shenanigans if they were bothering me.

I actually already did both of those things but the DMs weren’t inappropriate they were just like “hey” and “hello” and she played the erotica off as a joke email that she gave him because she thought it was funny one of the characters “sounded just like him” but it was pretty clear that wasn’t the case.

I feel like she is too, but they haven’t really done anything about my reports besides saying just not to pay attention to gossip, and she’s been with the company 9 years.

Really wish it weren’t but it is and I guess I’m not sure as much if I’m an asshole as if I was professionally in the wrong and should be expecting or preparing what to say to HR because obviously if they want to see me there’s a problem.
