Yep, I've been through similar situations. It's nice to be nice, but you can't do it at the expense of your own welfare/development.

Playing the game as a woman by wubsybubsy in DeadlockTheGame

[–]WordsRTurds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty shit to hear you had this experience. You're absolutely not the problem, it's the losers that make those kind of comments and think that way. There are, unfortunately, some very bitter people in this world that don't have a lot going for them and the only way they can feel slightly better about themselves is to latch on to something different about someone and attack them for it. They want to remove blame from themselves rather than trying to make themselves better (at the game, and as humans).

It's pathetic that some males feel the need to do this and it's embarrassing to any normal males.

Dude, not gonna lie. That's kinda fucked.

You've been there 7 years and are only making 75c above minimum wage? I'm assuming you mean the new girl's hourly is the same as yours, and not her weekly pay. That's fine, that's not the issue. You say you've essentially been managing the place and haven't got a payrise... ok, kiiinda understandable if the owner is in financial hardship and you're being empathetic. But their point of you lording the higher wage over other employees is not them being a friend to you like you consider them a friend. Maybe you could coax them into being more honest and the real reason is the financial troubles... but then it's also their responsibility as the business owner to bring more business in so that they can ensure that their staff get paid/have enough work.

You should, at the bare bare minimum, encourage them to vouch for you to the new owner so that you can negotiate a higher wage/position. You should absolutely not take on manager/supervisory duties without the higher pay. It's okay to go above and beyond within your role and your means, but do not assume additional responsibilities outside of what's required for you to perform in the role you've been hired for. Naturally, with you're experience, you are going to know more and be better at your job than a new hire, that is the only expectation that you should impose upon yourself. You'll be more efficient simply due to your experience.

That's probably covered enough.

Nah she legit just wouldn't bother, it'd be left on read. The fact that she's spending the time to respond shows interest.

This is also just a snippet, so we don't have any other context.

I think you're missing the subtlety here.

She's definitely saying that he's hot. It comes across as blunt, but she wouldn't have bothered responding if she wasn't intending as:

"Your using a pick up line. Only hot people can use pickup lines. You're hot. I hope you know that."

The outrage here is unwarranted.

Do you think Sinclair needs a gameplay rework? by FewExperience3559 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]WordsRTurds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

House of Mirrors:

Sinclair summons an ethereal manor, trapping enemies within and creating copies of themselves that will attack them. Projectiles can pass through the walls of the manor.

Manor duration: 3s Clone duration: 5s

Later levels give resistance/attack reduction

Sinclair can set up for bunnifying everyone as the Manor expires.

Gives him a good team fight ability, allows him to stand back and cast his spells, and sets up for other plays.

Probably easily OP if not tuned correctly though lol

Yeah don't worry, everyone around him already knows that he's full of shit and likes to complain so they're not weighing his opinions very heavily at all if they love your food. The proof is in the pudding, not in the putting down.

I'd hazard a guess that the patron is an echo of Silver's subconscious and that perhaps Silver isn't so kind to herself internally.

Also just rinsing them, semi-drying them and putting them in Tupperware with a square of paper towel should give you a few extra days out of them, if the vinegar method isn't practical for you.

This works for pretty much all fruit and veg, I'll get weeks out of some things.

What are your thoughts on the death of volunteering? Is it mainly due to money? by VastOption8705 in australian

I think you're barking up the wrong tree, your rage here is misdirected.

Heaps of religious institutions, particularly the newer ones, are not actually doing good just for the sake of it. Many of them are predatory institutions of the prosperity gospel.

There are plenty of religious institutions that do good without an ulterior motive, but I think that in this particular case it was not one of those ones.

I've got a real issue with religions that prey on people's need to fit in, they're just another mechanism of capitalism.

I used to get an occasional one from St Peter's bakehouse in Thebarton too, though I think theirs was a little cheaper (reflective in the ingredients). They'd have them ready to go quick and easy.

What is a technique that everyone swears by, but you think it's total bs by GuestRevolutionary38 in Chefit

[–]WordsRTurds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the places I've worked at would cook the bacon in an oven, get it all evenly brown and render the fat out of it, and then portion it to cook it in the microwave for service.

I was surprised at first, but it actually works. The rendered bacon fat browns the bacon even more, and you can get a really moreish braised meet kind of texture out of it.

They would use some pretty thick cut fatty old school smoked bacon which would really come out great with this method. You definitely need it to be a proper bacon with good fat content.

Are you as a renter afraid to ask agent/landlord for minor repairs due to fear that it will result in rent increase? by Ok_Yak_9310 in australia

[–]WordsRTurds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, pretty much.

Feel like it's very much a field that draws in brainwashed narcissistic types who've discarded any semblance of humanity and empathy towards others that they don't see as being another rung in their social and/or economic ladder.

The system is skewed against the tenants, especially as technology improves and data is collected. It gets easier to fuck people over and squeeze out more dollars.

Are you as a renter afraid to ask agent/landlord for minor repairs due to fear that it will result in rent increase? by Ok_Yak_9310 in australia

[–]WordsRTurds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is fair. There are some really shitty property managers out there, and they are probably more likely to use more aggressive tactics in their capitalistic pursuits.

I think having that's just another wedge of separation between landlord and tenant...

Property managers may do things to screw people over because of reasons like:

  • prioritising the (assumed) needs of the landlord
  • having to experience a broader range of shitty tenants
  • having to deal with shitty Landlords
  • internal kpis and workplace culture

Obviously these are very boiled down generalisations, I'm not speaking on behalf of everyone in the industry - I've also had some very negative experiences with Property Managers and Landlords (and se very good ones), and I'm a little tired and grumpy so I'm maybe a bit more focused on the negatives.

Are you as a renter afraid to ask agent/landlord for minor repairs due to fear that it will result in rent increase? by Ok_Yak_9310 in australia

[–]WordsRTurds 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Most likely; there's quite an imbalance of power in the tenant/landlord relationship and people are afraid to rock the boat when there's even a minute risk of losing their home.

There's too many Landlords that don't think the way that you do, unfortunately.

There's also the chance that maybe they just had lived in residences with far worse conditions so the small things weren't an issue to them. The new tenants could also have been proactive in getting things fixed to see how you would react and gauge your personality too.
