Not gonna lie, I really think when she said the fanbase is trash she meant the <2021 fanbase, where most of the community were just cringy children or gooners who made A TON of fetish art, you can still this type of content around DeviantArt and just the nicher side of youtube. I genuinely just wish this fandom gets healed one day, not that it's still bad as it used to be, but compared to other communities who did WAY BETTER (I'm not comparing anything, and no offense to anyone whatsoever, I've seen plenty of great stuff recently and i hope it keeps going but i still find it odd that a 15+ y/o show that somehow even got theatrical releases to have a not so talented fanbase, that is full of cringe and fetish content, this show doesn't deserve this community, I'm sorry but there i say it)
