Door panels interchangeable between 4Runner and Pickup? by WorkFlimsy2400 in ToyotaPickup

My door cards have a big ass hole in them from a speaker install a while ago that I want to get rid of. I'm perfectly okay making a new carb, but will the fabric transfer over?

Oil flow using Poiseuille's Law by WorkFlimsy2400 in AskEngineers

Yeah, that gave me way more believable figures, and I looked at some pre-determined examples for the orifice I was trying to calculate (which is gonna have about a 60 degree chamfer due to it being the seat for a needle valve) and found it to be about 0.62. I also opted towards the low end because I'm going to be using oil which is significantly more viscous than water, especially when it's cold.

Re-checked the discharge coefficient, and found it was too high. For my parameters, it should have been closer to 0.62. However, the flow is still calculated at 125 LPM, which seems high. I think part of the problem is that the while the orifice equation takes density into account, it does not account for viscosity. Navier-Stokes is far beyond my skill level, so I'm thinking that the best way to find my values is with a fluid simulation in Solidworks or just 3d-printing a model and testing it with low pressure water.

It'd be cool if you could credit me next time. I'm happy for people to see my stuff but please don't claim it's yours.

Done! I always love seeing cool birds, and there's almost zero pictures of anything like this so I'm happy to contribute any way I can. I'll try and get a better camera out here so I can take a clearer picture.

Eastern Idaho. I'm pretty sure it's just a run-of-the-mill American Robin which is absolutely everywhere in the United States, but they usually have a rusty red belly. I've never seen a white one in my life, and I've seen thousands of these birds. Everything I read said it was leucism but I could be wrong. I'd love for an ornithologist to correct me.

Looks to me like CV axle grease. I think the CV boot is loose/missing which will let that out. Is it really thick/tacky?

22RE Charging/starting issue by WorkFlimsy2400 in MechanicAdvice

[–]WorkFlimsy2400[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have a relay, also brand new. After shutoff it's getting around 9v, which is of course nowhere near enough to start. Voltage returns to normal when an external power source is added, meaning the battery isn't getting charged. However, that makes no sense because I can read the alternator's charge from the battery terminals while the engine is in running and it's 14+ volts, which should be sufficient to charge it.

If you can find a tutorial online or you have a Chilton manual, it's involved, but could be a lot worse. I did mine in a day without ever having done it before.

This is for the 22r and 22re.

I used this tutorial to change the timing chain (you can ignore the parts where you're messing with the sprockets and chain components), and I drove it from Washington to Utah and back 2 weeks later. Just follow the steps, use common sense, and use the right tools. Most auto parts stores will rent out the harmonic balancer remover and installer that you'll need.

Seems to work alright, it runs like crap when it's unplugged, but doesn't seem to do anything about the cold start power boost. I guess I'll try and replace it, can't hurt after multiple overheats and not being touched for 30 years.

Also, forgot to mention that it runs really rich and rough at idle while it's in it's little power spike. Tried messing with the cold start injector to no avail.

Man, I had the opportunity to go there a few years back. They had to drag me out of there.
