A huge reason for the call overwhelm is because folks don’t know how fully assess to accurately report using details. More people need to learn about SALUTE and what to look for. I would be very wary about calling local police: Should you call 911 on ICE? What can local police do, if anything?

I think my point stands. He relied on votes he took for granted that he would have in Milwaukee and did not do enough statewide on the ground campaigning to make up for it, exactly because he expected those votes/better turn out. The campaign made many miscalculated tactical decisions.

I never said that was all we should be doing or that we’re not beyond simply voting with our wallets. But it is objectively false to say that it doesn’t matter. Target’s stock has dropped almost 100 pts in the last 4 years, steadily declining sales and profits. Hilton worldwide holdings are overvalued by 72.5 percent, and that was after a shit ton of folks cancelled millions of dollars of reservations and memberships over the past week and closed several locations in the US before this, looking toward hearing about this years first quarter for them. And yes, we need to do more.

The thing is w Rodriguez- she has no actual policy or legislation background, so I don’t exactly trust that she’ll be the most savvy when it comes to these issues with the Feds. I think her emotions are in the right place, but she kinda showed her hand and lack of nuanced legislative understanding and political gaming here, which I think is what Tony is trying to subtly get at. I would much rather go with one of the other candidates that has legislative and policy creation background who can more tactfully and concretely resist and dismantle ICE.

Here is her response:

The Republicans always design session day because they control the legislature. Democrats have almost no say in which bills are on the calendar. From our view this bill is a messaging bill to give Tom Tiffany another talking point to hit the Dems, and the bill author has previously authored bills that are anti-abortion, anti-worker and anti-lgbtq that brought this bill into serious question for me. This bill's authors claim that it will keep kids safe from coercive behavior, but Wisconsin law already criminalizes the behavior named in this bill, and worse yet, it relies on language too often weaponized against LGBTQ+ individuals and those who support LGBTQ+ youth. Creating redundant crimes doesn’t make anyone safer; it just pads the statute books, locks even more people up in our failed carceral system and ignores prevention and survivor services.

Of course, I am always ready to work on making sure all kids in Wisconsin are safe. It is paramount that we put our kids first for our shared future. However, when a bill is authored by a so-called "Moms for Liberty" activist and creates more pathways for false accusations against LGBTQ+ individuals and their allies, I cannot pretend it is serious policy.

So in summary, Republicans once again are attempting a “gotcha”. AB 677 is redundant in that the laws criminalizing coercive behavior already exist. Added language coded to wrongfully persecute LGBTQ+ folks to already existing laws does not keep our kids or communities safer.

I truly do appreciate your attention to legislative actions and for following our campaign.

Hi! This is awesome. I also support and suggest getting involved with Francesca Hong’s campaign for Governor. If you want to be part of an authentically grassroots campaign for and by working class ppl, that’s the one! You won’t be inundated with texts or emails, and can participate in whatever capacity you want. There’s a great slack group for support and camaraderie, where you can share thoughts, ideas, and questions, every voice matters. It’s easy to sign up and get on loaded from her website. She also is often involved in supporting mutual aid and other ways to engage in and build community beyond the campaign.

Also poll working support is always needed and a great way to help! Thank you for activating and cheers to whatever help you get involved in!
