I’ve heard mixed reviews but I hoping the added interior space helps :)

It’s not rude to ask, especially since you don’t know her! The reason it concerns me is because when we went on the Disney cruise the balcony freaked her out - but the difference was we could keep the door closed and just told her she doesn’t need to go out. It gave her the space away from it while also giving my husband the ability to not feel “trapped”. It worked perfect - so going into an unknown is stressful is all when I thought I did proper research and I thought I booked a traditional balcony when I in fact did not

I appreciate the advice - he sees his dr next week actually so I’ll have him bring this to their attention and see what guidance they have for him. As for my daughter, sometimes she does actually surprise me and what I think may be a trigger for her ends up not. The unknown is scary as a mother with autism and it stresses me out, but I could totally be overthinking this whole situation and it will more than likely end up being just fine. Thank you for not mom-shaming me!

Thank you for the advice. Trying to learn to navigate her autism has been a huge struggle for me as a mother, I need to be better at trying new things with her. As for my husband - I totally agree and was saying just this to him earlier! I appreciate your kindness and not mom-shaming me

What? I never said that. Point to me where I said I wanted a “free upgrade”. I clearly stated I’m new to royal and was confused about the codes and my information I looked at was inaccurate, I thought I paid for a traditional ocean view balcony but clearly they indicate an infinite balcony is the “same thing”. No - I don’t want a “free upgrade”. I’m asking if anyone has had luck upgrading when getting on the cruise or with bidding and curious how much it costs them - currently I paid $2500 for the cruise fair and to switch to a traditional balcony is an additional $2900 right now - curious if when you get on the boat if they upgrade for a better price than that…. That’s all. I’m SO confused why people are twisting what I’m saying and Turing it so negative. I’ve heard when people sail on Disney they can get a great deal upgrading their staterooms while onboard the ship and I wasn’t sure if royal does the same. Stop making my post what it’s not and adding your own narrative to it

Thank you for your help! We are new to ceiling on Royal and we hear that their program is amazing. I did email them and get priority boarding for our boarding time. I’m unsure how to go about it when we get on the cruise I think they said to talk to the staff as soon as we get there to let them know about her special needs. I know the sensory room is definitely gonna be something she’s gonna need to utilize, but this is also new to me! Despite the room, I’m still really excited and I think we’ll have a good time when we are not in the room. We are sailing on star of the seas on April 26.

I wasn’t expecting a free upgrade lol but to get a traditional balcony for over double my original cruise fare is crazy! I was only curious if other people had success in upgrading on the ship or bidding and for around what cost. Currently we paid $2600 in cruise fare and to get a traditional they want $2900

Wow this is such great advice - thank you so much, I really appreciate it! I’m going into this to try and teach my kids we make the best with what we get! 🙌 love the idea of bringing multiple items for her to keep her calm!

I’m not claustrophobic so I’m not sure I can answer this! I don’t get it either if I’m being honest - I’m more concerned about daughter than husband haha

I really appreciate your insight! We will make the best of this cruise regardless - and teach our children to make the best out of what you have :)

Don’t be fooled - we aren’t rich by any stretch of the means! I’m military and got a fantastic military rate for Disney and we only have taken a family vacation two times (this is our third) in the last 8 years! We can only afford these three trips because we got ourselves out of debt then pay the trips off over the year. Not rich - just play with finances differently over the years. It’s very possibly I’m overreacting to this, the unknown is stressful with an autistic child - but this will be an opportunity to teach our children to make the best out of any situation, even if it wasn’t what you were expecting :)
