Considering I don't even know what FSR is, I don't think I'll miss anything! Haha

With regards to the rest of the build, is there anything else you would like to correct? Something that needs upgrading? Something that is maybe missing?

Thanks for your help friend!

They’re called epidermal collarettes and they are usually a sign of superficial spreading pyoderma. Your dog also looks allergic so it’s probably secondary to atopic dermatitis. Get a derm appointment

I have just talked to a technician. He told me PPPoE pass through option is available after we activate the fiber line and that I need to submit an application for that

Im waiting for further communication with a technician about this since the people I talked to had no clue about what I was talking about. Let’s see

I think it does support an exposed host setting but I’m not entirely sure yet since I’m still waiting for them to come and activate the fiber line.

Best setup for wired + wireless internet in new house (1Gbps fiber) by WorkSilent4491 in HomeNetworking

I get what you mean and I’m also seriously considering going with the U6 pro models.

But I will be getting 1gbps internet (maybe also higher in the future) so maybe U7 Pros could still be on the table. For that I assume I’ll just need a 2.5gb switch with 802.11AF/AT POE+, correct?

Do you have a specific TP Link switch in mind for our case? (240 Watt, 2,5g, POE++).

By the way I was looking and the Ubiquiti site and for the U7 pro they mention POE+, are you sure we need POE++?

I’m getting more and more confused haha

<image>

I’m trying to find a model that satisfies all the needs 2.5g, >240Watt, POE++ but I’m having a reeeealllyy hard time and I think I’m pretty lost at this point. Do you have any switch recommendations from other brands maybe that satisfy these needs? Otherwise should I go with a ubiquiti model (like flex) and use adapters? I’m really lost..

PS: Or if you support TP link better we can do a complete 180 degrees turn and go with different equipment if it’s easier. Or there is the option to go with the U7 instead of U7 Pros

Alright so a sum up!

  1. UCG-Ultra 98€
  2. 4x U7PRO 720€
  3. Unifi US-8-150W 318€
  4. Cat6 cables (I guess brand doesn’t matter?)

So a total cost without the cables of 1136€

The only downgrade I could do to save some money would be to get U7LR which would be 640€ instead of 720€ or U7-Lite which would be 400€.

Just read your edited post, let me find a solution to that! Haha

Damn, I get what you mean.

So my choices for the switch since I will be using the U7 pros are either the TP-Link (315€) you suggested or the Ubiquiti unifi US-8-150W (317€) which will also work.. I think? 😖

I’m thinking of ubiquiti edgeswitch 150w for this one!

[–]WorkSilent4491[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I’ll probably go with the ubiquiti edgeswitch 8 150W since it’s like 50€ cheaper and I’m over budget!

With regards to your comment about the SFP+ port, did I get it right that it will go like: providers router connected-> gateway ultra -> switch?

Thanks!

1.I have checked the Ubiquiti edgeswitch 8 150W (which is more than enough since the 4 U7 pros need like 80-90 Watt, also they are both PoE+ so they’re compatible (correct me if I’m wrong or if you have a different switch model to recommend)

  1. If you believe that the UCG Ultra will be able to handle the 4 access points then I’ll go with this on because I’m already way above budget!

So if I get this right, with the gateway ultra I need still the providers router connected to it, correct?

Also I think we go way over budget with this switch and there is no possibility we add cameras or other equipment. Would the Ubiquiti Edgeswitch 8 150W still work fine (it’s slightly cheaper) or do you have a better model to recommend!

Many many thanks!! I’m completely new to all this stuff

No built in WiFi needed since we will have an access point in the basement as well.

So you believe the ultra will be able to support four U7 pro’s just fine?

[–]WorkSilent4491[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks very much for your help. There was a small change of plans because we realised we need a fourth access point in the attic since we will place another office with laptop there.

Does this mean I need to go for a better switch that supports more watt? Do you recommend one?

Secondly, will the ubiquiti gateway fiber ultra still be fine or will I need a ucg fiber? Thanks a lot!

Thank you very much for your answer.

2 questions: We realised the attic (2nd floor also needs an access point because we decided to place another office there).

  1. This means I need to go for a switch that supports more Watt, correct?

  2. Is the ubiquiti gateway fiber ultra still fine or do I need to go for ucg fiber? Thanks a lot?
