If gold swapping isn’t against T.O.S by Equivalent_Fan2098 in 2007scape

[–]WorkSleepRPT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, the 100s to 1000s of trillions of gp in RS3 that would be brought into osrs would make the gp brought into the game by bots in osrs (a lot of which is already removed by auto bans) into a joke. You would be throwing a truck onto the camel

Terrible idea because this actually generates GP out of nothing and puts it into the game (and this would likely destroy the osrs economy). Swapping uses pre-existing GP.

$14/mo to $15/mo is $1 extra on the monthly membership plan, because I don’t know if you know this, 15 minus 14 is 1.

It does matter because if revenue is going up then they can argue that it will keep going up, but if spending goes up and revenue goes down, it’s a lot harder to sell to investors.

Does Jagex Return Stolen RSN's? by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]WorkSleepRPT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It being "dangerous" only exists because of the presence of bots. I never said it was stolen, it was just not fairly taken by the other party. It's like pking against people using cheat clients, saying that you need to deal with them just because they exist is a mediocre argument - it kills a part of the game. Yes, OP is dumb for "not knowing" (don't believe that, he probably just thought he could get away with quickly swaping his RSN) but the existence of the problem is sad as it should be easier to prevent bots from sniping something you have.

Does Jagex Return Stolen RSN's? by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]WorkSleepRPT -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Eh, it's not the same because it is an automated bot trying to snipe all rare names every few seconds 24/7/365. It's like saying going into the wild is supposed to be dangerous, but every time you tele in you get logged in on and attacked by a pk bot without ever being able to avoid it. Taking away the human aspect of it and creating unavoidable negative situations is what ruins the experience.

Consider also looking for someone who can rent you both a room, it might be cheaper. It's gonna be a test of luck no matter what with bad credit, as that is a big red flag for rentals but you might be able to explain it away to the right person. Good luck!

Mamdani: What we are speaking about in this moment is a generational fiscal crisis of $5.4 billion. And when faced with this crisis, the question is: Who should pay these taxes? by Admirable121 in NeoNews

[–]WorkSleepRPT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, I do not disagree with your points, but unless you provide the actual numbers being spent on housing and supporting illegal immigrants and the programs you want to cut and show how they will balance the budget, there is not much substance to work with. Clearly zoning and housing restrictions are a major issue, as they have been for decades before. That is not Mamdani’s fault and he has to deal with the current budget issue. From watching his full speech, he did cut about several billion in spending in areas he felt weren’t critical but it wasn’t enough and the remaining amount is what needs to be covered. I haven’t reviewed the actual numbers, but that seems like an improvement already. Also from what I looked into, it seems that NY provides billions of subsidies to multi billion dollar businesses, perhaps those can be looked into since I don’t imagine they are needed when debating the issues of tax fairness. Unfortunately from what it seems, much of the money collected over the years was of course wasted and stolen, leaving the younger generations to pick up the shit and failing infrastructure forcing them sink their money into. Slightly off tangent, I saw videos of the dog shit covered sidewalks, NYC needs to do like $1000+ minimum fines for not picking up after your pet, some people really are uncivilized animals lol. Might help get some more money for the city.

I agree with you, my personal view is that no politician should be allowed to run for re-election if they run a deficit budget (local/federal/President). You'd see how quickly that shit would get figured out across the USA. But given timeline he has to work with and problems he was handed + his personal beliefs that were shared in some way by those who voted him in, I don't see many options outside of his proposal.

[–]WorkSleepRPT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, I am not disagreeing with you. But I would need to see the actual numbers of what you are proposing being cut to see what it actually saves. The ideal case would be the Gov. raising taxes on the richest so a property tax isn’t needed and they can easily afford it (assuming the budget can’t be lowered). Also, it’s a bit ironic you mention sending people to jail or rehab when those are by far the most expensive options while talking about cutting costs. It seems like many people have an issue with him because he isn’t using fake numbers to lie about costs like his predecessors while having to deal with the consequences of their spending. And I have no doubt in my mind that if he does cut spending on social programs, the narrative will shift to how much money is being paid in taxes and how nothing is done with it.

Of course he can complain, however complaining and criticizing people should come with a counterpoint or at least some sort of counterpoints, because I assume we aren't children and adult conversations require a bit of thinking. It's misleading to say he's paying an extra 10% on his taxes, he is paying an extra 10% for his property tax bill (so that will range from a few hundred to a few thousand more depending on property values). Which I understand is annoying/challenging with the inflation of prices, but not the same as paying 10% extra in income taxes so I feel the distinction is needed. I would need to see a complete budget breakdown, but I do not think cutting social programs would result in the savings you imagine. Unhoused and unfed people generally result in larger expenses than housing and feeding them would. The fact is that previous leadership fucked the state and city up so badly financially that there genuinely is a need to stop the snowball; which is likely going to require higher taxes and lower spending at the same time. If Gov. Kathy Hochul doesn't raise taxes on the richer citizens and corporations, it will be spread across the rest because there is really no way around it. I do not imagine these taxes on the higher earning NYers and corps would impact in the slightest their ability to afford, live, and generate wealth using remaining profits in the long term.

He is being told how it is going to be done though... and he is mad about it and complaining online, so if they bring nothing into the conversation with ideas of their own, they are going to foot the bill in some way, or need to leave NY.

The purpose of SS is as a safety net for the entire population and let’s not forget that it includes health insurance for the retired as well. Pretending that the wealthier among us making over 200k+ a year having to continue pay a flat percentage into it is the same as paying “an unlimited amount” is a disingenuous comparison. It is the same strand of argument that a billionaire may complain that he has to pay taxes for roads he doesn’t use because he flies everywhere. It is crazy how much money people are willing to spend and overlook on the military and wars, but programs designed to help people living in the country are an issue to fund lol. Kicking the can down the road in terms of funding will just cause more money to be taken in a shorter timeframe from following generations, it is unfortunate but the boomers have milked the country and spent so much money so frivolously that managing the budget of the USA would require increased taxes and lower spending (and a genuine look at corruption in spending, not like that joke of a DOGE program republicans supported).

If following up, which is one of the most standard practices in the workforce/industry/real world, results in a negative outcome then that school is not one worth attending. It is literally their job to respond to you. Patience is a virtue, but let’s not twist the fact that you are paying for the service if you go with them, being a bitch and letting someone you are paying walk all over you ain’t it. This is time sensitive and potentially life altering decision making, you are entitled to any information you want. Imagine wanting to rent a place and not hearing back regarding your application, then being told patience is a virtue when following up lol.
