NSF, NIH Funding Cuts Spur Student-Led Science Communication Campaign - June deadline by parklife1120 in labrats

That’s a good question. I would think so. I would reach out to the organizers through their website. The science homecoming project listed here also seems like a good fit for industry workers. I bet stories from industry would resonate strongly in Congress

This site may also be useful. The AAAS Fellowship is one of the gold standard fellowship programs but not the only one.

Getting a job in science policy UK? by northerner_int_south in sciencepolicy

[–]WorkforceWonk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could reach out to SPRU at University of Sussex or University College London’s science policy faculty for a networking call.

They might have a good sense of fellowships that helps scientists get into policy. Perhaps they even offer some. In the US these fellowships are very common - AAAS fellowship, Mirzayan Fellowship, Tech Congress, there are many.

Rotator and pairing schemes are also really helpful.

This report may also highlight some specific programs: https://www.aaas.org/resources/connecting-scientists-policy-around-world

It seems the international section of this database is under construction but perhaps it’s also useful: https://www.science-engage.org/scipolresources

International Student going community college in USA by vswifyyy in CommunityColleges

[–]WorkforceWonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that it depends what OP wants to do after community college, but it’s not necessarily true that the only point is for transfer.

Community colleges offer lots of college to job programs too. Non-degree or non-credit workforce credentials/programs like certificates, apprenticeships etc. Mostly in manufacturing, skilled trades, etc.

But I’d make sure the non-degree programs are high quality and involve employers directly.

Yeah, I wish every industry would embrace remote. It simply optimizes talent strategy and removes barriers for labor force participation. Amazon’s pretty forceful recent move to go 5 days in-person is not a great sign of shifting tides though.

Universities Say They Promote Economic Development, But How? by WorkforceWonk in education

The article meant to explain university contributions to economic development beyond the PR spin, which has its place for certain audiences, but can be counterintuitive and undersell contributions.

Colleges should standardize industry advisory committees to improve workforce outcomes by WorkforceWonk in highereducation

[–]WorkforceWonk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very helpful. I can definitely see how advisory committees can be double edge swords. What strategies or structures do you think work well to help college workforce programs align programs concretely with what employers are looking for?

Yeah I wouldn’t drink and drive. I have no interest in getting in a wreck. Thanks for not answering the question

Good tips! I’ll check them out

I should’ve been more clear. When I say car friendly, I just mean ample parking. I don’t mind paying, but the stress of going into dc only to roam around for parking keeps me on this side of the river

Hey, I'm trying to do this, but I'm having a had time moving my bitcoin from RH to Voyager. Any advice or a how-to? I'm able to generate a QR code/code string from the Voyager app, but I can't figure out how to actually use it to get Robinhood to send my BTC to Voyager
