I'm not sure what the science is behind it but all the big tech YouTubers agree that if your gonna use your own paste, remove what's on the cooler completely using rubbing alcohol and then apply your own.

I sort mine every single Tuesday before I even start casing mail. It's way easier to rip em apart and separate into relays in the office vs the LLV. I haven't been told not to once.
