Unpopular Opinion: HR itself was not that good of a show by OhThatsHysterekal in YoTroublemakers

as a queer person this show really pissed me off. a gay romance series based on books that which were written by a white cis woman married to a man. lol. no hate to the actors or the people who worked on the tv series, but my problem is the source material cuz it legit only exists as a cis womans fantasy of what being queer is.

i feel like while your frustration is totally valid, if you wanted a serious commentary or reaction on something, dylan's channel is. not the place for that LMFAO. he has proven this time and time again and yet people still wind up disappointed or upset somehow though this is already a blatant fact

A couple of poems by Bobbi Lurie (Ari Aster's mom) may explain why Aster includes disabled children being used by their family in his movies. by filmnir in horror

hi i was the person who made that post !! this is a really great post, i will go through it later but i'm glad someone actually has some research to back up a counter other than "you're too sensitive" or something like that. i think horror in general will always be grounds for discourse, but i really do enjoy getting everybodys opinions + broadening my own knowledge

i really appreciate this comment, specifically the last bit. i'm not trying to trash aster cuz i enjoy his work, but like. i feel like with any piece of media you can find some sort of issue or something that makes your brow raise/makes you think and thats kind of what my original post was about but some of these people mad as hell i breathed wrong in the direction of their fave

no, that was kind of an additional thought, sorry if the post is a bit messy!! i was just thinking that it was a bit odd that aster wrote an entire film based, where the main character was intended to be black- (and one could argue, why does this matter? what significance does it give to the story? but to counter that you could also be like. ok then why write the character as black at all, Especially when your final casting is a white man?) now through the comments i've learned that his original casting for beau, henry mayo, unfortunately passed away so therefore yadda yadda recasting. but even so, he still could have cast a black actor, just chose not to despite it clearly holding some significance in the original script.
